mtx 251D amp powering 2 subs???

I may be buying 2 mtx road thunder subs and a mtx251d amp

I read that each sub can handle 200 Watts RMS and the amp can put out 160W x 1 so that means 80 watts to each sub.

im buying the whole system for 100 dollars. im not looking for anything amazing just some extra bass.

would putting 80W to each sub be underpowering them to much where damage could occur?

like i said i just need some extra bass and i heard these and they actually sounded pretty good with that amp.

do you mean 80 watts...??? but, if i am thinking of the same subs they can't handle 200RMS very well. are they in a prefab box, with some tweeters, and the are black and say MTX roagthunder on the subs in red i beleive? they have a black grill over them?

it'll be a nice LOW END setup. not gonna shake the neighborhood, but will give you a pronounced substage

also, i bet money that amp is under rated which means it puts out more than what it's rated at.

ya im just looking for a little set up nothing crazy

i dont think those are the same subs it just says MTX AUDIO and its in a prefab box but no tweaters or grills

that will work fine for ya then, not a bad lil set up if your not looking for much, im taking it your running the highs off the hu or is all stock. grab you an 8g amp kit and there ya go.

well it comes with an 8g wire kit.

Also it says its a mono amp but why does it have 2 sets of terminals for speaker?

100 isnt outragous but if you can get the set up for 80 then you can get your amp kit and total would be 100.

ya im running my speakers off the HU for now. my HU is one of the better pioneer ones. and all my speakers are polk
