Ya its funny, I sometimes wonder if those salesmen really believe themselves, or if inside they are thinking "wow this job is turning me into a habitual liar".

Be patient when picking the right subs man. Like I said, spend some time planning out the enclosure, make sure its designed 1) for the intended use you want to get out of it, and 2) for the subwoofer you chose. Alot of people make the mistake of spending the majority of their time chosing the equipment, then so very little just tossing it in their ride. The much better choice is to spend less time chosing brand names, and more time installing the pieces you bought correctly --> above average --> exceptionally.

i run 2 mt 15's daily with a 2500d on each. they're not sq oriented to say the least. but they will get loud(i burp currently @ 38 hz), but you have to realize they are an spl sub

I like the low end of the HC's better, but if your setup is tuned about 34 and above, you will be fine with the MT's

you neeed to state what you want (all of it, not just how loud youw ant to get) and then better options will be presented to you.

This thread is getting filled up with generalizations (myself included). Again, as I said before, the INSTALL will be the key factor, not which brand name you chose. If I were you, Id look at a more practical daily driver sub (even RE will/would tell you MT's are not designed for daily) with lots of potential (HD3, 9100, 3500, XXX, etc). Chances are you do NOT have to chose a raw SPL driver in order to mutilate your bro's install. Make a smart choice on the speaker (not just the biggest baddest one you can buy) and really invest some time into getting the install/box/tuning/etc just right. That is a much better recipe for success than simply buying an SPL driver and stuffing it into your trunk.
Call me silly, Id prefer a daily system that will get 95% as loud as that SPL oriented system, yet maintains awesome SQ the whole time its doing it. That was/is the idea of these 'SQL' supersubs on the market today. the dd 9500's will do good for daily imo, wont sound like a mag or anything, but for people that don't play alot of complex bass lines they will do fine and sound 'good', I would never run the mt's daily imo... If I had to have something like that I would just get the btl, but I still think the 9500 would sound better....

I don't think the thread starter has ever heard mt's or an even a mag or idmax, I think if he did he would get one, off one autotek 3000 I would run 2 mags or 3 idmax's if I wanted to get loud, and if I had more power I'd get 9500's... It's all personal preference and if the soul purpose is to get loud and he has to have the mt's he should have at least 2500 watts each for it to even benefit much over some other better suited woofers like the old xxx's or 9500's..
