MT 12 - top plate and coil

OK, 99% postive that the VC on an MT is 3" since folks do the whole dd/mt combo and all the dd motors are 3"

"Features a huge 4 inch flat wound coil. The motor is a little bigger than the MT but with a pole vent for a great daily woofer. This is a limited edition subwoofer and there isn't very many in existence." that is about the destroyer.

Top plate measurement??
Coil diameter?

It's for a customer who needs a recone and is turning towards ATOMIC to get that accomplished so I need the measurements. I think it's a 4 inch coil but I have no idea about the top plate. HELP!!!

Shawn

A customer just dropped one off to have us re-cone it, is it the same person?

Gap plate height is 1"

Magnets are 8 3/4" wide

the vc diameter is ~3" (I have not take it apart yet, but its a 3" coil) if its edge wound flat wound. Round or square, I will know after I cut out the cone. We’re going to put our new coil in there anyway.

I don't know the coil winding width (height)

What is really interesting is that there is no venting, this was an obvious attempt to gain some Bl... not sure if I agree with that design.

The spiders are just 8" wide with exposed leads. Rather small for the excursion allowed by the three 1" tall slugs. I think the excursion is certainly limited by the spiders.

The surround is 1.5" foam.

I'm going to recone it with our high excursion 18" frame that allows for 10" spider and over 2" clearance below the spiders. (same frame on the eclipse Ti pro) I'll put a light cone on with a thinner tall rubber surround or our PA cloth surround with is awesome for SPL.

This is going to be a *****ing TC Sounds MT when its done //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I thoguht an apx was pretty mucha drop in replacement for an MT //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Wound'nt know.. this is the first MT i have ever seen. It will be a fun little project.

It is a drop in...but if you want it done right, you have to have all the right gaps. Coil can only go down soooo far into the motor...

Awesome Idea Kyle...I am not going to go that far. Just going to put on a 15 inch basket and go basic triple stiff spider and APX soft parts. Only a SPL sub...so it just has to take a tonne of abuse. I like the 2" clearance below the spiders though. That **** sub needs ventilation. But the MT was made for one purpose...and it does it **** well too.

We'll see how she like the soft part!

Shawn

well no i meant i thoguht that the measurements on the apx and the mt were the same //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

guess wiht the top plate measurements and such now however you will know for sure. The apx looks awfull close to the same height top plate though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Kyle u the man

cool stuff

in time when i have money i wanna recone my jl 10w6's and my xxx15 with some other soft parts, any other good brands (and by that i mean quality recone kits for relativly cheap) beside atomic?

No other recones out there besides ATOMIC;) TCSounds pshhhhhhhhh...whatever! LOL...kidding Kyle.

My teammate used to run 2 15's in a wall and they are the best sounding sub I have ever heard. Absolutely amazing! Wouldn't hesitate to run them at all...

See..now comments like that on http://www.canadiancaraudio.com would get you a warning and possibly kicked off. Stupid mods...sorry...anger towards them.

One of my customers complimented dealing with me and got the thread ripped, and got a warning. And I got a warning because someone said I dealt with recones.

Losers!!!
