I just recently purchased a flat panel TV. I am wanting to buy thing to wall mount it. It is a 46".
I have a couple questions:
1) Is there a rule of thumb of how high off the ground to mount it?
2) How hard is it to mount
3) Should I get the tilting one?
4) What should I look for in a wall mount?
1)You typically want a slight incline for the line of sight, depending on how far your sitting from the screen. In a typical living room you would want the bottom of the tv to be just above your head when your seated.
2)You need to identify the studs, where you can get electrical from, where are your components going to be placed. Then you need to find a way to fish the necessary wires from the components to the TV. (typically I cut 2-4 12X12 holes in the sheetrock to do so) Sometimes they can be run with out having to cut so many holes.
3)100%
4)Adjustability, (tilt, mounting options, swing) ease of mounting the TV and taking it off (because you will take it on and off a few times while your putting it all together)
If your components are not inline with your TV (you naturally point the remote at the TV, not the side of the room) So if you have them in any area that is not on the same wall, you can use a remote eye for your IR remote. One of the manufactuers of these is Niles. I actually personally use them and they work great. My components are in a different room, but I point my remote at the TV and everything works, from the iPod to DVD.
If I can be more help PM me or give me a call.
