Mounting TV to wall

There are differences between a tilting and articulating mounts. There are still differing types of tilting mounts as well. I would look for a mount that simply does about 15 deg of downward tilt. That way you can mount the TV out of the reach of little kids, yet be able to angle it downward a little for direct viewing. If you don't need to worry about how high it is off the ground, then a no tilt mount will give you a very flush mount, almost directly to the wall. If you get a tilting mount like I described above, it will have to stick out a few inches from the wall in order to be able to tilt some.

I have a 32in LCD in my bedroom on a 15 degree downward tilting mount. It does stick out into the room a little more than a non-tilting mount, but since my bed is so low, there was no other way to have a direct view without the tilt.

wall mount ftw.

get one with a tilting option. with tilting you can level the screen to face your sitting position a little better.

finding a stud isn't too hard. i forgot what the rule of thumb is for inwall bracing/stud. i recall the 2x4's run parrallel every 12-13"s apart. for what i did i took a rubber mallet an knocked on the wall gently to listen for hollow and solid sounds. i then took a very thin nail and hammered it into the wall. if the nail goes thru with ease then your not on a stub. if it take a bit of force then you found one.

well, the wall mount that i have for my tv has 4 long oval spaces as to where the mounting bolts should sit in. i took a pencil and traced those ovals on the wall and searched for the stud in those ovals. be sure to use a level. if it's not levels when you sit the wall mount the tv will clearly show it's not leveled. that is something that stands out to me and may not to others.

they say you really only need 2 bolts to be in studs but it's best to get all into a stud.

set the tv's center point to your eye level. and give a slight down tilt. not much just a little. it's how mine is.

It is 16" in my state I believe.

Hide your wires yo.

ewww ugly wires....

i normally mount the 50-60" off the ground for that size tv, thats to the bottom on the bracket. An impact driver is the best for running the screws into the wall, drill will work but you will be there for a while, and predrill the hole as well.

As for a wall mount i would look for at least a tilting mount for that size tv, you can get a telescopic if needed but they are more difficult to install.

The tiliting type would help with the wires and allow a greater mounting height. I'd like it atleast 42" from the floor to the bottom of the TV. I think it would look odd for it to be 3'.

The type you are looking for should be $40 tops. Should be 4 bolts to fasten the mount to the wall. All hardware should be in the box. Make sure you level it and bolt to studs. All else is cake.

i live in military housing. i can't modify in wall cable drops on their wall. unless if it was my house then yes there would be no wires. it doesn't bother me much. it's my bedroom so no big deal. the living room 52" stays on a tv stand so that area looks clean. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I am still iffy on how high I want it though...

I think I can go higher if I get a tilting one.
