Mounting subwoofers inverted?

Ohhhh very interesting. It looks easier to wire or change how your subs are wired too. It just seems backwards. And I guess it sort of is.
Really? thats why people in DB drags have to keep there windows up I am assuming.

What is a 6th order then. A box within a box?

What is a 4th order?

It does look good. Very good.

By the way. Did you ever get ahold of john about getting your memphis repaired?
No I decided to go another route all together the amp had already been repaired before so I just wanted it replaced, but real nice guy!

What did you replace it with?

Oh is real nice. And he seems VERY good with amps. When I popped a transistor because I wired my subs wrong. He fixed it for free. And while fixing that. He upgraded the wire inside the amp from 8ga to 4ga.

for the moment a mcd1000 at 1ohm safely! LOL I was actually happy to have some floor space back in my trunk it's what allowed me to invert the woofers and that increased the output a little by giving the subs a slightly more efficient enclosure, I actually get the same output before my voltage even begins to dip but when you look at the box size and how much space those motors eat up it's not hard to see how it improved.

what did you wire the previous one too?
Are sticking with 1k or going a bit bigger?
the other was at 1ohm but only 2ohm stable, this model is stable at 1ohm and I am looking into either a 1500 or 2500 rms and running it at a high impedance load to get all I can from the amp from an efficiency standpoint and still achieve the rms I desire.

So basically you have to be some sort of God to build a 6th order correctly LOL.I think life is interesting for reasons like this. Most people may look at audio as. You take a speaker. You put it in an enclosure. You give it power. But like everything in life. Even something that seems simple. Can get so COMPLICATED.
You don't have to be a god to build a bp enclosure.

Check out the link below. Has 4th order and quasi 6th order discussion in it.

My experience with inverting subwoofers is you gain more airspace for the enclosure, sealed res goes down a tad (might also affect port tuning a tad as well), cooling is better since its not trapped air within the enclosure cooling the vc with heated air, it's free flowing air that gets sucked in to cool the vc and it's even better if you're driving while the windows are down.

With inverted subs, you'll have to swap the polarity or use the 180 degree phase knob on the amp.

With my temp setup, it's a little louder (to the ear) inverted than mounted in the enclosure. Probably b/c my sub enclosure is a tad on the small side so I gain going to inverted.

Also, you want to keep the gasket on to help keep a seal around the basket so you don't get air leaks. You may need to make the sub diameter cutout a bit larger so the surround doesn't rub on the enclosure.

Oh ok. You are looking to run the amp at 4 ohms?
