What does puting a mdf ring around the speaker do?

and what should i do to my doors when i mount my pioneer revs?

just cover all the holes and use egg carton since i cant afford of figure out deadening

if you use egg cartons make sure you buy a spray on treatment to make them water proof or else when water gets in the door they will get all moldy and shit.
