I know this sounds absolutely nuts, but I'm in a jam.
I have Dayton DC-160-4s, shielded (they were cheap from PE and they didn't have the tons of Peerless woofers they have now when I ordered these... yea I'm a dumb ***)
Anyways I have tapered MDF rings. The ID on the rings is just big enough that I have to screw the screws on the speaker in at an angle; so screwing them into the door would be a nightmare.
The other issue is the door mounting surface itself doesn't allow the MDF ring to sit flush.
MY QUESTION IS: can I use a combination of hardening clay and adhesive or just some kind of putty like material to mount the speaker + baffle to the door? It doesn't even have to be a perfect seal; this setup is temporary, and I don't plan on getting deadener to seal the doors. Should I just dump these for some coaxials or would Liquid Nails work?
