Mounting amps flush?

i put a piece of wood on my back seat and have my amps mounted to it. thinking bout putting another board on top of that and cutting out holes for the amps then putting the amps in the holes so they r almost flush with the board. but will this cause them to over heat. the internal fans are on the bottom of both amps. any input would help. thanks.

Cut out holes in the bottom boards where the fans are so they can circulate.
sounds as if the cut outs wouldnt help much wither because the seat is right there too.

But i was thinking so small fans along the sides of the amp underneath the second board. that will help with cooling.

REMEMBER: a majority of amp cooling is by the heatsinks, not from any internal fans. SO having cooler air run along the heat sink is the most beneficial form of heat control. (ie. fans ect.)

if you don't plan on pushing the amps too hard you should be okay. If they are well designed amps the worst thing that can happen is they go into thermal protect.

If they're class A I would probably not do this however because class A will generate extra heat even at idle due to higher bias current in the output transistors.

I've done similar installs and have had no problems. Only difference would be the amps I used were either 1 big heavy heat sink (eg: old RF) or used clever convection cooling (Xtant).

I have and always elevated my amps from the surface for keeping the amps to stay cooler.I just place like 5-6 washers under each leg/corner bolt down of the amps.I have always ran a fan on one side to blow across the underside of all my amps to keep them cool.Always has worked for me.Or Id just do the sub amp, and elevate the other amps.Works well.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

If there is a fan on the bottom it was designed to be there and should have adequate ventilation. Flush mounting like you describe is fine. The biggest trick is having enough clearance for the RCA connections and the method of attachment.
