Mounting amplifiers with space underneath,Does it really keep amp cooler

Hi, I would like to hear from others, if it really made a lot of difference(aka keeps your amplifier quite a bit cooler) when you mounted or remounted your amplifier up higher off the mounting surface, so air could get underneath to cool the amplifier. How high is the optimal space to have underneath the amplifier. Also what are you guys using for the spacers, with a small enough holes, that when you screw the amp through them, there is no space for the amplifier to shift up or down or back or forth. Thanks

Hi,a lot of difference would mean ,With the amplifier mounted up higher off the surface, the amp ran quite a bit cooler. or stayed cooler for a longer period.

well

i never took my amps temperature , in different locations, with different clearances, then compared the data

not certain anyone has

I Can tell you I live in south Florida where it is 95-100 degrees, my amps are mounted in direct sunlight and they never shut off

i would say it is hotter here then in Canada

more space is better than less space

Running my ts150.4 @ 1.5ohm per channel and it would shut down to heat. Not cause of load or lack of power. Burning hot. Used water hose gaskets under feet prob raised up half an inch an moved to where air from rear window would blow on it stopped the protection issue. Still gets hot hot but want shut down like it did before after heavy play. Cant hurt thats for sure. Louisiana heat an humidity.

I had my amps in my bed of a black truck and theyd be burning before even playing music never had one shut down due to heat issues, but if you could, why not? Not like where talking hundreds of dollars. Literally .50c will buy you 4 plastic 1/2" spacers

Thanks for all the input so far, For the sake of a few dollars, Even if they don't run substantially cooler. ,Every degree cooler, you can get an amp or any electronic component, can only be a good thing for extra longevity of the internal components. It also gets 100% here in the summer in Canada, and -45 degrees with heavy wind chill factors making it way colder than -45, with mountains of heavy snow to shovel sometimes ,before you can even think of driving anywhere to enjoy the stereo. Human beings ,and components take a **** kicking here with the massive extremes in temperatures. But again thanks for everyone chiming in so far.
