Mountain Biking

hmm i wonder if i could find a used shred...now that im looking i rather have a good used bike than a cheap new one...if you guys can find anything within like 50 miles of Newark Delaware thats worth checking out i may grab it

its vice versa here. im into MTN biking and my 3 roomates aren't.

im actually taking MTB for a class. its only half semester and 1 credit though.

and im ridin a yakuza chimpira. iron horse FTW.

im off to the gym...if you guys come up with anything let me know, post it up....im looking at various size charts and i think im gonna need a 20"+ frame and id like some type of suspension, full suspension isnt necessary...also i AM WILLING TO GO USED NOW....

let me know guys thanks

i would highly recomend a shred, its not the nicest bike out there, but for the money its hard to beat. i looked at some treks and the rockhopper disk, but when i rode the konas they just felt right. good solid bikes. one of my friends rides specialized and after he rode my shred he was talking about selling his bike and getting a kona

Those are some nice bikes you posted there evil...
why thank you, i love them. the shred is mine and the fire mountain is the wifes, but i had to get her something i would ride too, its turned into the loner bike, for the brother and friends with out bikes to ride when we go out.

the biggest shred is a 17" but its still a perty big bike, my uncle has a 19"hardrock and side by side they are about the same size as far as handlebar height

Oh..one more thing to keep in mind and go ahead and purchase...clips. Get them! You'll will never regret it....except if you fall off a cliff because you can't unlock fast enough, but well worth the energy saving from every push and pull as you ride.

I like egg beaters personally, but currently don't ride them.

aight seriously when i see you at the long island comp im gonna slap you.
haha..I bought a decent Shwinn off their website for about half of what local dealers were asking. Nothing crazy but good for general trail riding. I've always been a bmx guy myself but not so comfortable to ride when you get a bit older.

I have a Cannondale Super V 700, I bought it back in 2000 but its in mint condition, it has the head shock instead of the forks and its easy to adjust the suspension on it. I also have a used Gary Fischer Joshua that I bought back in 2000 if you are interested.

Schwinn made a huge mistake going to Wal-Mart, IMO. They're probably making quite a bit more money though. I used to ride an old Schwinn, which was the bike that got me into BMX, and trail riding.

compaired to some of the bikes out there, the shred is not really a bad deal at all for the bike you are getting

Edit: check out the local shops and you may be able to get a deal on an 08 cause the 09s are coming out now

Trek...

I own several Treks (a few motobecanes as well)...My buddy just started in it and he picked up a really sweet Alpha 3700 for right at $400 and it's pretty frigging sweet...no disk breaks, but still a great bike...the 4/5 series are great if you can get them in that range...Rockhoppers are also very nice...
