More volume from 1 sub @ 300W or 2 @ 150W each?

The Alpine PDX-5's sub channel puts out 300W RMS @ either 2ohms or 4. (Weird that the power doesn't change even when the impedance does)

I'm considering one, but possibly two Alpine 10" subs (have both 2 & 4ohm DVC models) in sealed enclosures.

Would I get more, less, or the same volume from:

- One Alpine SWS-1043D (4ohm DVC) sub which would be powered by 300W RMS at
2
ohms.

- Two Alpine SWS-1043D (4ohm DVC) subs which would be powered by 150W RMS at
4
ohms.
And, what would the SQ affect be between the two choices?

Apparently the PDX-5 has some tricky circuitry to maintain the 300W RMS power at either 2ohms or 4 ... Not sure how they do that.

(Reason: Not positive I want to try to jam in two sub boxes)

Tks as always dudes ... Hope I'm getting smarter ... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

I agree.
I meant two dvc 4 subs powered by the amp's one channel @ 4ohms.

Did I phrase it wrong in the question? Noob here ...
its cool. theoretically it would be the same, but considering more power to 1 sub = more heat, more heat = more distortion, and that 1 sub would move more, meaning less coil in the gap, so 2 would probably sound better, but the difference is minimal

Here's the wiring for the two scenarios:

2)

OK, I think I understand. Appreciate it ...

Ahh ... One more thing. Do you believe the Alpine really does put out its 300W RMS equally perfect-o at both the rated 2 and 4 ohms? Or, do you think it could actually be a little better at the "easier" 2ohm rating? (or maybe the 4ohm for some reason I don't know yet?) ... or does it even matter?

its not black magic or anything. alpine, jbl, jl, and a few others have amps that do the same power at any ohm. actually the jbl bpx1100.1 did more power at 4 ohm than 1.

its voltage may be regulated to keep the power the same at different ohm loads, but i would guess that it is more efficient at 4. if there is a difference it would be so small i bet you couldn't hear it

No, meaning I disagree. I've done higher numbers on my own setup with half the power, and half the cone area.

90% of a decent setup is in the install.
