More output from focal flax?

Im thinking the dual 10 inch dual 2 ohm woofers would do the trick. Unfortunately thats the way it goes - the car audio places here will always recommend focal regardless of what you actually want out of a car audio system. Oh well, lesson learned. I will sell the 2 10 inch focal flax's when I have some time off.

The reason I would want the dual 10's is that I wouldnt have to modify the box - it really is a superb enclosure, made to fit perfectly inside my truck. So I dont have too much mounting depth or cubic footage to play with.

Those dual 10's would fit with no modification and I could wire them up as 500 watts rms per piece.

I already sent a message to my local shop to see if they can get me 2 of them. Il have them modify the enclosure to allow them to downfire as I flipped the enclosure and much prefer downfiring. Then all theyd have to do is wire them in and raise my rear seat 2 or 3 inches.

Unfortunately I dont have the budget to do 2 w6's right now. I would have but the car aduio shops have screwed me out of about 2 grand right now. I also dont have the mounting depth to do W6's

If you want to downfire the enclosure, The sundown SD-3 10 is actually a good sound quality oriented sub that works well in sealed. They will get much louder than an ID-Q 10.

This is also a superior choice to the IDQ 10s with shallow mounting depths

They will handle much more than their rated RMS. People have ran 1.5x to almost double the rms of those subs no issues.

Would these give me a good amount of SPL while maintaining a good SQ as well in a sealed enclosure? I really need impact and sustained lows out of my subwoofers.

And again would I be able to wire them both to 2 ohms to the amplifier?

you'd want to port those. The output not all that great sealed. I have an IDQ 10 in my lady's car on 600 rms and its lackluster. A W6 sounds much better on the same power both in sound quality (musical range) and output in the same sealed box from A to B swaps i've done. Difference was very noticeable.
what IDQs do you have last ones i heard where the v3s? 10s don't particularly get loud. the IDQ is very transparent and JLs are typically full smooth and boomy..

note i just seen the v4s are pretty much a IB sub.. that ***** big balls. They have low MMS and low inductance designs though which often sound great..

the w6 is way overpriced. if your gonna go for a SQ woofer the incriminator audio flatlyne is a great woofer ported or sealed..

BTW if the parameters are correct the IDQ is superior in everyway to the w6

I added another sub choice to my post earlier. Just get the correct ohm load and you can wire them to your amp at 2 ohms. They will easily hit the sustained notes and sound good.

The DCONs look good but I have the mounting depth and the cubic footage to be able to go with the SD-3s

how would the SD-3s compare in performance to alpine type R's.

Ive heard Type Rs many times and would be able to say thats the kind of performance level id want out of my 10's

i have no clue where your basing your claims but i'm sure anyone with some subwoofer knowledge will tell you that the SD is by far not a better choice than the IDQ. the IDQ has a higher efficiency and displacement.. it is superior as its alot higher in price its more comparable to the X series than the SD series..

IDQ v3. They dont particularly sound great to anyone thats heard them, stereo guys, and normal guys that has heard my girl's idq 10 system did not like them. The impact is weak. the JL 10 actually gave a small chest punch(for a single 10) and played every genre nicely with clean tight hits and boom when the music calls for it. Much more pleasing sounding bass. the IDQ is too transparent and does not have tight punch or upper range extension, pretty big drop off after 50hz. It does hit lows decently, almost on par with the W6 but my girl gives zero fks for lows.

I dont care for parameters, I care for real world results and they are disappointing. If i had to go image dynamics for subs, i'd go with the IDMAX, they sound much better.

your getting carried away.. start by giving measurements. i dont care for downfiring because it muffles the sound of the driver and sounds louder VIA reinforcement.. its a no no for SQ..

I am dealing with about 0.7 cu/ft per enclosure - with 2 enclosures for 10 inch subs.

I would prefer the enclosure to remain sealed.

I'd say if you have the mounting depths for the type Rs you can use those for a cheaper alternative if can get the type Rs for cheaper, they would give similar performance.
