These are SD 8s in a sealed on only 400 watts per sub.unfortunately I dont have nearly enough mounting depth for type R's
since two 10s is roughly around 1.5x the cone area of two 8s along with you putting more power to the 10s and its the newer revision, it should be a good bit louder than the vid.Would it be reasonable to assume I would get much more out of the SD 3 10's?
Okay perfect I will contact my guy about the sundowns. Those definitely seem like a good choice.since two 10s is roughly around 1.5x the cone area of two 8s along with you putting more power to the 10s, it should be a good bit louder than the vid.
see that transparent sound is low distortion. and what size box do you have it in and how much power you have? i think somethings really wrong becasue I've NEVER heard a IDQ that didn't play great into the midbass region.IDQ v3. They dont particularly sound great to anyone thats heard them, stereo guys, and normal guys that has heard my girl's idq 10 system did not like them. The impact is weak. the JL 10 actually gave a small chest punch(for a single 10) and played every genre nicely with clean tight hits and boom when the music calls for it. Much more pleasing sounding bass. the IDQ is too transparent and does not have tight punch or upper range extension, pretty big drop off after 50hz. It does hit lows decently, almost on par with the W6 but my girl gives zero fks for lows.
I dont care for parameters, I care for real world results and they are disappointing. If i had to go image dynamics for subs, i'd go with the IDMAX, they sound much better.
.7 cubes 600 rms @ 4 ohms. low pass at 100hz. Sub plays into the midbass region but lets just say the doors speaker's midbass are way louder. My girl says the IDQ sounds muddy and the JL sounds clean, her exact words are " its like taking off cotton plugs off my ears" so idk man. A-B swap and comparison, Both D2 wired in series. Nothing else change other than the JL might like the .7 cube box more but i really dont think thats the case since most 10s work fine in .7 cubes sealed.see that transparent sound is low distortion. and what size box do you have it in and how much power you have? i think somethings really wrong becasue IVE NEVER hear a IDQ that didn't play great into the midbass region.
BTW there is a parameter for aynthing that can be measured in spaekers, hehe.. once you fully understand them the parameters are very revealing...
i'm not even going to argue here man. if your GF is happy so be it but IDQ is renown for making some of the finest sounding speakers. JL isn't bad but they are so overprice and the company is so full of **** i never recommend them...7 cubes 600 rms @ 4 ohms. low pass at 100hz. I have ported them before but honestly I prefer the sound of all Focal subs in sealed applications better. When a client wants that low drawn out slump as they say, I refer a different brand of sub.As a focal dealer do you have any experience with porting focal subwoofers? Do they sound alright?
