i have 4 jl audio 6 1/2 subs 6w0-4s. on a mtx 6304 they hit 136.7 in a 98 ***** am.8 of them = 52 inch's of sub. thats 4" more then 4 12's.do you think it would out do 4 12 w0s or not.fore of the 6 1/2 are nut's for sure,best sub i have every got for the size.

i have heard three jl W06.5 blow away two twelves. if you push the right power to them in the right box, they sound amazing. the guys at the shop pushed 500 watts to those three subs, and the voive coils didnt even get remotely hot for about 10 minutes

Those aren't supposed to be SPL generators....they're midbass fill drivers.

Why not just make it easier on yourself and buy a **** 12" sub? Those 6w0's are about $120 each MSRP if i remember.....for what you'd spend on 8 of them, you could have a pair of brahmas.

531/135 = 3.933 ...

So, in conclusion, eight 6w0s should be equivalent to two 12w0s in cone area ...
Instead of POST***** in your moniker, why not use "Captain Cone Area" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Every time a cone area question comes up, you seem to have the answer. Do you have a proggy that figures cone area or do you just plug the formula?

He's just rrrreeeeaaaalllll smart... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I remember reading something about him in a paper...my blonde forget it though, what was it again?

God, did you people not go to high school?

Pi(radius)^2 is all you really need to know....

It's not that hard to memorize...unless you dropped out before high school geometry.

And of course 2 or 3 6.5" would blow away a 12 in the right box, but then again a single 12" would blow away 10 6.5" in a right box... because cone area is one thing, but factor in excursion, which would be about 3x that on a 12 than on a 6.5" subwoofer..

yea remember that you cant use r^2 because its not a flat cone...you could only do that with Ks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif but even then you have the surround to count out...

the 6 1/2 kick very fast and hard.when the bass tone is done it stops,10 and 12s keep going.thats why i like them.for going out to make some noise i put my mtx tir-box in hooked to my 81000d.i know they are not spl woofers, but 136 from 4 is cool.i just wounder what 8 would put out in spl.i don't plan on getting 8 of them,to much money.and they are $75 each.
