Actually the Bible has been proven by historical scholors. You can argue all you like, but the Bible is accepted as historically accurate by comparing it with other documents from it's day.
Religion is man seeking God through works. Christianity is God seeking man. Theres a difference, so don't put Christianity, NESSESARILY, as a religion.

It's amazing how many beliefs are linked under the title catholic/christianity. There are many groups out there that take the bible out of context.

Noone was there at the last supper, so how can you take what a painted hundreds of years later, as fact? It just doesnt make sense to me.

It depends on your definition of religion, we have plenty of evidence of early humans being actually buried in the ground with strange artifacts one could only describe as spiritual in nature. Religion is not confined to a god or gods. Show me your conclusive without a doubnt evidence that your god exists. I'm not trying to argue your religion, just that what you are saying is contradicting.

I tried to kinda sorta argue both points, which is where I can contradict myself.

Only faith is what shows that my God exsists, the Bible does as well, but noone here will accept it as a truth.

You have to accept what a person says with an open mind, not just say "well one guy converted so that doesnt mean he is right"

Religion wasn't formed to make us do something against our will. Religion was formed to force people to do what they don't need to be doing i.e. early Catholic church and buying your salvation.

Christianity was formed because a person recognizes God's love for us and that person wants to be with God and love him. We aren't a religion, we are a faith.

Religions are wrong, its original start is wrong. If you believe in God you know he wants you, and he comes to you, not you go to him. Religion is salvation through works. That is not how it is supposed to be. I took an entire class on this last year, and am currently studying cults in my class this year. All cults was salvation is through works, which is not what the Bible states.

Basically, you "gotta have faith" and thats all, just faith.

Sit and think of how you can explain all this came about. I never really cared and then I thought about it, and realized that someone, somewhere, at sometime, had to create this all.

How would we get love is someone hadn't created it at one time? Can love just be a thing from evolution?

Well in case you cant tell by my screen name (God Dyd 4 Me) i am a follower of the teachings of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. (however in this point in time i dont seem to be living the life i should for him, kind of hypricitical but thats a diff story) I dont believe in "religion" marlyskater put it very well. Christianity(christianity and the Catholic church are 2 very diff things please do not confuse the 2) is about faith. I take the bible as the literal word of God. And as for those that say why read the entire bible, i say Why not read it? try reading it with an open mind. Archeology has proven time after time that the "stories" as some would call them in the bible happened exactly as written in the word. I have spent many years of my life in study of the bible and bible prophecy. Did you know that there are hundreds of prophecy's in the old testiment concerning isreal that were fufilled exactly as predicted and precisly when they said they would be? amazing.....Then comes the prophecies of the messiah (Jesus Christ) Jesus fufilled every prophecy that was ever written about him hundreds of years before he was ever born. Now im not going to sit here and tell you what to believe....I respect you guys more than that. well i have read some of his stuff.....and i agree some of his stuff happened jus as he predicted.....but who's to say he didnt have a prophetic gift in his life? but then again.....that also assumes there is a God and that each of us have different gifts that he has placed inside us......because as the word says we(and by we i mean those that believe in christ) are the "Body" of christ arms legs fingers and so on......diff parts have different gifts/uses so to speak.....but i dont ascribe much to his predictions.....now as i said if anyone wishes to speak further on the issue feel free to im me

Its a cultural and social institution to help set morals for people and serve as a social gathering in many cases. Religion transcends WAY past simply beliefs. I believe it helps most everyone that participates in it.

The Christian religion is not pastors and televangelists. I don't even attend church, and I am still a Christian. Like I said before, I read the bible and formed my own beliefs. And yes, many churches and pastors have gone corrupt, thats one of the reasons that I left.

This is one of the areas where my beliefs are different that the norm. I don't think God causes every little thing that happens. I think he keeps a close eye on us, and only interjects when he feels it is necessary.

And the Bible was written to be a guideline for how to live, It isn't an all controling book, but a basic outline for how to live.

Sorry, but no matter how many books people write claiming to know the answers, the Bible will never be a 100% historically accurate source. The only way to come close to "proving" that certain places even existed is if you use a lot of interpretations, "maybe's", "thinks" and "could be's". Heck, you can look in different history books and find a different explaination in each one of certain events within the last 500 years. It's all about perspective and interpretation.....and a lot of guesswork.

That and the Bible's events can never be proven as 100% historically accurate, which is WAY more important. Could there have been a Jesus of Nazareth many moons ago? Sure. Doesn't mean he did everything that the Bible claims he did. The Bible is a good novel, and that's what I look at it as (note that by definition "novel" means fictional).

And how do we know that the Bible wasn't just the world's first novel? The first "great read"? Completely fictional, written for pure amusement.
