interesting concept - explains a bit. Not the most scientific thing... not sure how a being would be able to do that. I *could* see some being billions of years ago somehow taking whatever it takes to start life (single celled organisms?) all over the universe... and perhaps earth is the only planet that supported life as we know it anywhere around us.Had an interesting intellectual conversation with a close buddy and his uncle (a certified genius) tonight and this EXACT question came up. Though it would be impossible for me to go through everything we talked about (we talked for a good two and a half hours, and conversation jumped platforms many times), he had an interesting take on "God". In his view, God once was an independent and "conscious" being before the universe was created. He used himself to create the universe and everything in it. So, in his view, we all have "God" in us, and "God" still exists in the sense that he is a part of everything, but that there is no "conscious" God that watches us or "controls" our actions or places judgments against us.
Of course, there is also the concept that earth is the ONLY place in the universe life happened... for whatever reason, right here is the only place everything worked that way.
I seriously doubt the universe would only support life in ONE place though... but there is always the Q of how did it start, and WHY did it start. GOD offers up an easy answer.
