At what impedence?
At what % of rated power?

What the hell are you talking about? Im not talking about adding/taking away channels, im talking about class D and Class A/B architecture. They are DIFFERENT. Class D is more EFFICIENT given the same manufacture, similar parts, built in the same era. If this was not true, then why would manufactures BUILD Class D amps in the first place? Surely its not just because of the lower loads, many old school A/B amps could drop to 1/2 ohm per channel or more no problem. Could they do it efficiently? No, so give me a good reason...in that case, refering back strictly to the original question at hand... can you show me two amplifiers from the same manufacturer and era, both the same type internals, one a mono block one a multi channel amp, and prove to me that by simply adding a channel you increase efficiency?
ive already stated that yes, you can make generalities of that nature, but it still is a generality and is not pertinent information to the question asked IMO. and prowler, if you can find a case like i have posted above, then and only then can you say that i refuse to admit my fault in the presence of a fact. because so far, you have been speaking in generalities and not fact //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
What's the voice coil configuration on the SS sub? Is it a Dual 2 ohm or a single 4 ohm? If its a dual 2 ohm, you can parallel the coils to get a 1 ohm load and get lots of power from many class D mono amps. There is nothing wrong with using a 2 channel amp and bridging it to run a sub. If you are looking at more than 500w, however, you may benefit from the increased efficiency of a class D amp. Class D amps are pretty cheap these days, so I don't think its going to necessarily cost you much more to get one over a 2 channel amp.OK I'm sorry to start all this trouble. I will clear up the thred question. I was looking for amp to power my new Sound Splinter Sub and i noticed you could produce more power on a 2 channel amp bridged even at 4 ohms for less money, than you could on a mono a 2 ohms so i was wondering if there was a downfall to buying the 2 channel in this case? sorry about the trouble.

OK, Ok, they need a smiley where one smiley is taking another smiley, has them bent over and is reaming them from behind while holding up the devil horns sign and sticking is tongue out. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif
