money better invested in deadening or bigger subs?

I have an 03 intrepid, with a huge trunk and thick backseat, and it seems to take a lot of bass to make it into the cabin. I have an SS rlp with nearly 1000w going to it, and it just isn't incredibly loud. would i be better off investing money into deadening (mostly for trunk), or trying to sell my 12 and getting a 15, or two cheaper 12's.

Either way you are fighting a losing battle unless you create a path for the bass to enter the cabin.

Cut some metal out, remove rear speakers, get a louder sub. RL-P is more of a SQ sub that will get reasonably loud. Add another or get an SPL sub....

alright, let me clarify,

1. i don't plan on selling the car, but i will not deystroy it either.

2. SQ is more important than a sloppy l7 in the trunk

3. i am not going to invest 5,000 bucks on something.

So will deadener not make much difference?

I think you will need a better trunk design. Sound deadening won't do much good if you can't get some of that pressure into the cabin.

deadner will help deaden road noise and rattles, not get more sound to ya,

I agree with one of the other posters, get rid of rear speakers making that area for the airflow/sound to get thru, and a better design on the box, and then go with more power and more subs from there

see if you can remove some of the insulation on the back of your seat. I took mine out, and there was a inch thick black tarp, and a layer of deadener from the factory, i took that out and it made one hell of a difference.
