Modifying Subthump box for Silverado Ex Cab, Anyone....

I have a subthump ultra deep box for two 12's right now and can't seem to sell this box for the life of me. I wanted to drop down to one sub so i can get all the airspace possible under the seat in the rear. New subs aren't really an option right now and I don't have to much free time on my hands to build a new box although that is a future project. Anyone know how hard it would be to knock out the center divider in the box and just seal up the other woofer hole? Closing off the woofer hole shouldn't be to hard but I'm not sure about the center divider and how it is mounted there since its a prefab box. Anyone ever dissect one of these things? Maybe its just held in with brad nails and glue and I can just beat it out since its a prefab but just not sure.

Right now I have two different subs to work with, I have two Diamond Audio D3's (which I plan on putting just one in there solo) and I currently have two Arc Audio Kar's mounted now. Everything just sounds choked up and shitty as both of these subs require more airspace than provided.

Thanks

I guess no one has dissected one of these boxes to see their build quality? I guess I will update what I can when I rip this thing apart. If anybody knows how hard it would be to remove the center divider before I actually go for it that would be great.

I do have those tools but the way everything is angled where the divider is will most likely pose the problem. Since the box is mdf I am assuming they just placed the divider in, used some glue and prob air nailed it down since it is a prefab jobber. I am hoping to save up some more coin and completely redo the box with MDF and Fiberglass but the way it sits now it just sounds like ***.

I def want to build a new box but I don't want to half *** it and with the way the back is I want to glass the bottom of the box and so forth. I figured this would be actually a simple route to take with the subthump but it is sounding more of a PITA now. I figured seal off the one side which would be fairly quick and just knock out the divider and I now have a box for one twelve and almost 2cuft of air space in which the box is already carpeted and everything.

2 cubes is a lot for a single sealed 12..

i wouldnt try to knock it out maybe if you could cut it out or cut holes in it with say a large hole saw... but trying to knock the divider out may destroy it since it is a prefab you have no way to know what is holding it in there... maybe just a few staples, or a ton of glue...

I think i'm just going to go buy a 4x8 of mdf and go from there. If I run a single d3 is asks for 2cuft ported so I guess I will just build it up and see what happens. Just need to figure out the port lengths and hopefully it wont be to bad from there.
