I was wondering..... how do you modify amps and how much gains could you get from doing this?

You remove the protection circuits on alot of them. you just have to keep them cool.

you figure that for every time you cut the ohm load in half, you're driving the amp twice as hard...with all the problems and benefits you get from that.

Unless you are competing, it is generally better just to buy a different amp rather than deal with the headaches of modding. Unless it's a factory authorized mod, you can kiss the warranty goodbye.

sorry for bringing back a really old thread, but i still want to know would i get anything from being able to have my amp run on 1ohm or not, because its 400W bridged @ 2ohms...

Yeah....you'd likely get a fried amp. Just buy a 1ohm stable amp.
