Modding the MTX 1501d Tutorial

as long as you periodicly check the heat level of the amp and not bea tthe hell out of it when it's spankin hot it'll last for a long time. but if it gets stupid hot and you keep making it wang full tilt...it'll evetually fry.....mine took several months of abuse before it crapped out

ok stupid question, how do i get the freakin cover off, its got star screws holding the cover on... do i have to get some kind of star screwdriver?

i have the mother board of the amp exposed, do i have to heat up the Q240 resistor, or can i just remove it with some plyers as-is?

i am running a modded 1501d on a dual 2 ohm Treo SSX18. i pound the hell out of it and it has never shut off on me. it does draw ALOT of current at idle. i have 2 hc2400s hooked up right now and a stock alt with no big 3 upgrade. the box im using is 4.6 cubes tuned to 36hz. a burp at 46hz i hit a 143.7 in the db drag position. and a 144.1 in the meca position. keep in mind this is a big *** 2000 escalade im hittin it in. that amp can wang. 142.5 daily with 1 18"

cool shit man.... did a 140.1dB off a single 1501d with a XXX 15 ina ghetto wall ina 92 maxima.....when i abused mine @ 1 ohm it got hot, and an hour of sine waves in direct FL sunlight did eventually kill it, but i was asking for it.....

Yeah, use a solder gun to heat it up enough to where you can just pull it out with some needle nose pliers.

Slightly heat it up, then take a utility knife and "flick" it up... and take it off. Cleanest way I've found in the dozen or so I've done. Most I've done... you can look at the board and not be able to tell me what's missing.

NO. If you want, go for it... good way to fry the amp. I'd recommend Big3, deep cycle (optima yellow top), dedicated run of 1/0 for the amp... at a MINIMUM.

You could try, but I wouldn't run it hard at all...

ya dude nG is right you will need the 1/0 awg power run for SURE....shit i could hear the differance between dual 4awg to a 1/0awg. Keep that stinger up front under the hood, get a yellowtop for the back, then you should be fine.......i have a stock 90amp alty and ran it with 2 red tops total and i was ok.

Yea i juss connected everything, i have a 4awg run from the amp, ill order a 17ft run of 1/0 kollusus from knu today. But that amp SLAMS! Its at 10/60 and my ears are bleeding. BUt yea, ill get the stinger under the hook and a YT for the trunk as well as the run of 1/0

if it's 10/60 make sure ur gains are correct....dont wanna turn it 75% up and put it into clipping...though these amps do have anice compression circuit to keep it from clipping....still good to set those gains right....

dum question, is the switch that white blur next to the dials in the pic? lol. Also do you think it will work on a 81000d?
