btw....for all of those that say Dom is slow.....you're all wrong. I paid him on March 24. (friday) and it was shipped out to me on April 5. thats not slow to me. so A+ for Dom on fast work...it's goin in tomorrow so i'll post the results of it, maybe this will be the alternator that WONT die in my car. my car eats them.

I too have to give Dom major props.... I was concerned after installing my alt and the local repair shop telling me it only puts out 49 amps. I called Dom up and he said just drop by the shop and we can do some more in depth testing that Autozone, etc can't do. (luckily I live just 15 min away from him)

So I stoped by his place after work and he put the machines on my elec system, turns out as epected the repair shop guys were wrong. They did even have the meter on the new upgraded alt to batt wire. Turns out I am getting about 175 amps and that I will get more once my pulley is redone. Dom offered to machine the pulley down to the size they usually use but didn't on mine cause something about the altima. But he is going to do this with no problem.

Dom is a great guy, and really went through my elec system in depth with me to make sure everything was cool.

i need to do some upgradin on my elec system.... car constanly drops below 13 volts.... and i know that im losing alot of power and output... not to mention its no good for my alt

It looks like you have a Ford alternator there (3G). If you wanted an alternator that is not going to die, look here; Penntex Alternator. They are pricey and they are externally regulated, which will make them last much longer. If you want to see a really sexy alternnator, look here; Monster Alternator. This unit is also pricey.

I have some decent photo's of my change out to a large case 3G 200 amp alternator on my Ford truck.

If your going to go w/ a big amp alternator, you really need to get a larger case alternator if possible or get one that is externally regulated. When you make a stock case 90 amp alternator into a 200 amp unit, they tend to run hot and that ends up killing them. I didn't go externally regulated on my new alternator but I did go w/ the larger case unit (hopefully this will aid in the longevity of the new alternator). I'm not really using mine for audio, it's more for other items (inverter, lights, compressor and some misc., fuse blocks).

well got it all put in...and started the car up on my uncharged kinetiks and it sat at 14.6......so Dom gets the thumbs up from me. gotta charge my batts up and see how it does. but so far its going excellent and im veeeeeeeeeery pleased with it. moreso than my EA which would never get above 14.4 volts.

If the rewinder in question isn't worth their salt then having an alternator rewound to HO capacity in a stock case can be a bad idea. If it is done properly, internally regulated or not, then it shouldn't be an issue.

My stock-case rebuilt unit has been on the car since it was rewound over two years ago. According to my alternator guy's load tester it still outputs every bit of juice that it did when he first built it. *shrug*

Maybe the old-school methodology is just too difficult to source nowadays, I dunno....

actually i forgot to mention when i had the stock alt and the iraggi alt both out side by side.....same exact casing and all. and Dom knows what he's doing and i'd trust him with it. and so far its working out good for me.

The rebuilber does make a huge difference in the final quality of the alternator, whether it's a high $$ aftermarket unit or just a HO stock alternator.

If it's not wound correctly, out of balance, poor internal parts and ect.,, these things will all make them not last very long.

iraggi was pretty fast also... he's in the same state though...
