Mini Extreme SPL Car

Very cool thing.

In Germany we have a separate competition class in dB Drag for things like that, it's called "Monster class". The rules are very easy, the vehicle must have 4 wheels, they must be max. 80" long, max. 28" high and 24" wide. The amp(s) and batt(s) have to be included in this construct. So it is clear that those "monsters" get a little bit bigger and don't look as good as your miniature Hummer (they're primarily buildt to be loud), but some are very funny, for example there is a dB toilete, which does over 165 db's. Your score is very impressing for that small dimension //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif

We did a 169 with our "Low Budget Monster", just an 6,5" speaker, a 24 AH battery and a cheap Blaupunkt amp with about 150Wrms.

I wish you good luck and a very funny competion and lot's of high scores and I hope to see more pictures of those loud "toys" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif.

Greets from Germany

I don't know what dimension this car has, but I don't think that it has a height of 28" hehe. The vehicles can be 80" long, due to the fact that some big monsters use trailers for Batteries and amps. I must say, that I don't know such a big Monster. It is a fun class, so there aren't much people, who really work on a monster like for a dB Drag car. If somebody would use the full dimension, the Monster would almost be as expensive as an normal db drag car, so I think this is not interresesting for the most competitors.

I'm in as soon as I buy my TL //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

I want to be the first mini vehicle to break 170! lol

Will there be finals? LMAO! Will the trophies be scaled down to the size of the car?

The Problem is, the smaller the car (pressure chamber) and the "sub" gets, the tuning freq. becomes very high. There are a few tricks to lower the tuning freq. without enlarging the volume of the chamber. We did the 169 @ 63 Hz, normally our tuning freq. was around 140 Hz with the 6,5" and the small volume (funny was, that the Monster did a 156 @ 25 Hz //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif ). Our aim was to hit the 80 Hz (because in our monster class there is also an 80 Hz limit), so if we had hit the 80 Hz, our score could have been higher.

Maybe a freq. limitation would be a good rule for the competition.

MFG
