Midbass keep popping at times.

I keep getting distortion and popping from my midbass on certain songs where there is a slightly loud and low bass drum beats or notes, the midbass on my component set has a hard to handling these notes and alot of times ends up distorting/popping/ just sounding awful.

The gains on the amplifier is set at 1/3, full, and the x-over on the HU is set 90hz with a -12db freq slope. The volume usually stays at around 26/35. Any way to work around this? Its only on certain songs, usually ones with a more dynamic drum recording.

Deadening the doors would help your midbass a good amount. Is the mid mounted solidly against the door with no air leaks around the woofer?

You may want to raise your HP freq to spare your mids. Could also be a case of just too much power for the components.

i had this happen to me today and i just turned the crossover up a smidge and it seemed to fix the problem. it didnt seem to take too much bass away and seemed to work. you might want to make sure on those songs that your mid isnt hitting the door. i thought about that as a possibility but am too lazy to take my door off haha

My doors are deadened to the max at the moment, turning the crossover up to 100hz with a -18db/octave slope seemed to fix the issue with the clipping.

ummmm how bad is it if there are airleaks around the woofer?

I think i have a similar problem with my hertz hsk. On some songs it seems like the speakers pop. I listened to hotel califronia and it sounded just fine, then i put on A millie by Lil wayne and it would pop on the bass notes and sounded like garbage. My HU is set to 100hz with 18db slope. On the amp the crossover point is also set pretty high.

Mine are ran active. I got em set at 80hz and can play them low as 63hz on a -6, -12, and -18db slope and they take it well. But I could not until I found a feature on my HU called APS or something like that. Set it to 1 and they sound wonderful. Until I found out the tweeter dosen't sit well in that flush mount ring and rattles.

Anyway to fix your passive problem set your HP higher. Or run them active.

it does the same thing to me. I listen to alot of atreyu and trivium and stuff but the mids just don't sound the way it does when i listen to other stuff. everytime i play songs with slower drums and slower guitars i get better sound but when i listen to hardcore music it distorts and pisses me off. I dont get it either
