I'm considering getting an Alpine iLX-507 head unit that has time correction and comes with a microphone with 12.5 feet of cable. Is that the same mic that would be used for the Bluetooth phone functions? My car has a mic in the dash that I'd like to use for that.

Yes, it's the same mic that is used for phone calls. Depending on your built-in mic connection it might be possible to use your existing mic instead of Alpine's.
