Metal music on subs

Ok so i used to have 2 rockford fosgate stage 2 12s.

now i have 2 polk audio 10s.

the 10s play lots of beats/bass where the 12s did not play but the main ones, i sometimes questioned myself why isnt it hitting right there. the 10s hit every single note, beat, bass, whatever u call it.

Now im not sure if u consider that sound quality, or just tight bass?

Anyways i talked to a crutchfield person on their chat thing and told them this story and told them i love the polks but they dont get loud enough for me. he said 10s just have a tight bass which is why it plays all those fast repetitive beats and 12s just cant because they are hitting harder and playing lower.

so idk if thats true or not, but i have an AD1200D and i need your help on what i should do. im sending the 10" polks 870w@2ohms and i used to send the rockford fosgates 400w@4ohms and they were still louder.

i was looking at getting IDQ12v2 so they would be 12s and pound, but since ID is supposedly one of the top for sound quality i figured it should play fast tight bass.

am i right? is crutchfield guy an idiot? is there a better choice for my money? im fine with 10s just really want them louder than the polks. i will be getting a new box and i have plenty of room. i want to keep it $150 per sub or less which is what the IDQs are

So what determines how well a sub handles fast beats or tight bass?

My 12s rockford fosgate punch stage 2 didnt handle it very well, if it was like 2 fast beats it would play it. but any more than that it just skipped some of them.

What kind of enclosure are your subs in? This is going to have a lot more to do with the sound than the subs themselves. I'd keep the polks and run a custom built ported enclosure. I listen to a lot of metal myself and always run ported boxes. I like it to feel like the drums are in my throat. Check out a band called From The Shallows if you want some REAL nasty bass and kicks.

their in sealed. if i went ported would it be louder? would they lose some sound quality or the tight bass?

im fixing to do either a new box or a new setup and ditch the polks. i finally figured out what i wanna do as far as putting them in my truck so now i have to get a new box regardless.

i really want IDQ 12s but it will **** to spend $300 and prob wont be able to sell the polks

the crutchfield guy is an idiot basically. size of the sub has no effect on how fast it will hit or what notes it can play. period, end of discussion.
Thank You! I hate when people bring that shit up. my BTL 18" was an awesome subwoofer and I listen to metal/hard rock more than anything. Double kick drum at 150dB+ is an experience, I can tell you that!

those who listen to metal what subs u guys use? pure spl subs? good mix of sq and spl?
mostly looking for brands
i have 2 12in TREO CSX subs in a ported enclosure tuned to 33~35 hz and i listen to shadows fall, lamb of god, slipknot, korn (old korn, havnt heard the new one yet), mudvayne, system, and a lot of other genres of music....

i can get a video later....

video would be great. never heard of treo. how loud do those get? i have 2 polk 10s and they play every note i want to hear but i wish they got louder.

treo says csx is an spl woofer, seems pretty weird that they would play every note and the tight bass im looking for. not saying it cant or dont just seems weird. every sub should play it all then if an spl woofer does
