ok the other day i am cruizin and the all of the sudden my bumps stop hitten i go back to find out whats up and i popped a 30 amp fuse on my amp and i put another in and it poped right away i checked my ground and it seemed good on top of my rear strut so i left it and then i keep poppin fuses so i decided to get rid of my 8 guage wire and bumb it up to 4 so i did that and and got a new fuse holder and it still wont work the standby light will turn on and then as soon as it turns red pop there goes another fuse then i tryed putting a new ground from my battery to the chassi i used the 4 gauge i had and i tryed it out and popped another one i have spent over 20 dollars on 30 amp fuses so today i just took my gound off the car and attached it to a jumper cable and ran it straight to the negative on my battery and as soon as i do there goes another fuse i have spent over 10 hours trying to figure out whats wrong and nothing is comming together

respond quick its friday and i need to bump help me out

Sounds like your amp is toast. If it is poping fuses as soon as it powers up that isn't good. Have you tried disconnecting the outputs to see if it still blows the fuse?

You shouldn't "bump" 'cause it's Friday.

Please 'Boom' ResponsiblyAs most of you have noticed, the noise ordinances have become much tougher lately. Most of this is due to idiots, yes IDIOTS, who drive through residential areas with their windows down while their system is playing at full power. To make things worse, the music they listen to has all sorts of foul language that's not suitable for small children, (who may be playing outside). There are even a few people, who are even beyond idiot status, that play their systems at full power through residential areas after 10:00 PM (when many people go to bed). I don't believe that this type of behavior is good for the industry. If the fines get too stiff, people will stop buying large systems. If this happens, more people will get out of car audio (who wants a mediocre system). People get interested in things because they're exciting. A deck and four 6.5" speakers are not going to interest many of the younger car audio enthusiasts. If car audio enthusiasts keep annoying more and more people, the fines will keep getting tougher. All of this will only reduce interest in the equipment that fuels the industry. If you want to listen to your system at full volume, get out on the highway where there's little chance of bothering anyone. When you get to a red light, turn it down. If the only thing attractive about you is your 'system', you have some work to do. Bottom line... Think about what you're doing. Think about other people. It's not the end of the world if you have to turn the volume down for a little while.

but seriously, don't people have any sense anymore?

lets see, my amp blows fuses...

the fuse it so that if the amp breaks, it doesn't cause any further damage, such as fire...

hmm, I wonder what the problem could be?
DeathByBass......I had a situation where I was constantly popping fuses once upon a time. It ended up being that the power cable had rubbed a bare spot in the insulation where it fed through the firewall going from underhood into the car. This was back in my n00bish days so it took me awhile and more than a few popped fuses before I was finally able to locate the problem. Constantly popping fuses is not always indicative of a bad amplifier (or whatever audio component is being discussed).

If all men Down Under have the same assinine attitude and personality as you it's no wonder to me why my wife tells me that Aussie men are pigs and when I do something so simple as open the car door for her (which is deeply ingrained habit rather than an attempt to impress ~ I'm from the southern US and an army officer's kid....manners are not an option) I get dirty looks from Australian men that happen to be passing by. Cut the guy some slack, eh? Whatever level of knowledge you may possess currently you didn't have when you first became interested in aftermarket car audio. Everything's a learning curve. Have a heart, fella.

If this is any indication of your version of being 'helpful' then it's no wonder why you were banned from another forum.

Now that I've vented...hopefully I can help you somewhat.

Check the power cable along its entire length and see if there is anywhere the insulation has become compromised and might be touching metal and creating a short to ground. If there is it will continually pop fuses as soon as you insert them until the problem is corrected.

Also check the speaker output wires for the same thing. If they are crossed or whatever on some amplifiers it can cause fuses to blow rather than the unit simply going into protection mode.

There are really only two options that would create the problems you are experiencing, I would suggest. Either you've got wiring issues (which can be a pain in the ass to troubleshoot but relatively easy to correct once it is located) or you've got a bum amp. S

Having said that go check all your wiring and if you can 100% be sure that there aren't any problems there then unfortunately i would say it's amp repair/replacement time //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

if the fuse is blowing in the amplifier (which his was) then its going to be the amplifier at fault... plain and simple...
This is assuming that the power cable supplying the amp was externally fused in addition to the fuses built-in to the amp itself.

I cannot speak for his particular install as I have not seen it but I know from personal experience that compromised insulation creating a short to ground can eat amp fuses as well with nothing malfunctioning within the amp.

Next?

I highly doubt that, considering its physically impossible. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif
Physically impossible? Okay - now that I know for an inarguable fact that you are a fool (bearing in mind that I have witnessed the above-described phenomena on my own equipment with my own eyes so I know with absolute certainty that is IS possible) anything posted by you in the future is automatically moved to the "This guy is an ass who does little more than talk out of his ass" category.

maybe you're getting confused? because it is physically impossible.
Look, mate....what is it, exactly, that you are trying to say is physically impossible?

What I am talking about was in an '83 Dodge D250 P/U I had once upon a time. The main power cable that supplied my system where it came through the firewall had a small spot where the insulation had rubbed bare. Not so much that it created an all-the-time everything was on problem but if the truck moved at all the place where the insulation was bare would contact metal (short to ground).

Everytime this happened (the wire touching metal) the fuses in both my amplifiers would blow. Physically impossible? I think not...

I drew a picture, just for you! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
