Memphis MOJO 4k HELP!!!

Are you running any other batteries other than the one under tho hood? When you run your headlights, ac, stereo and amp it may not keep up no matter how big your alt is. My memphis is a power hog!! I had to add batteries to prevent the voltage from dropping. It may work fine until the battery gets low then if you turns off until the battery recharges then it works fine. Also set your gain with a dmm to make sure it is right. Test it with the subs unhooked. Then reinstall them and test agian. It may be the load in your subs. Also make sure you have 0 gauge for both power and ground. Also make sure it is in a well ventalated area and not overheating. Check you setting on your HU to make sure it is getting a good signal to the amp

Look at the pic you don't see those batteries in the trunk???//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

What load are you running it at?

Are you sure of all your grounds and connections? Double check anyway.

Check all of your voltages at a mid level with is playing and see what everything says.

Do you have a amp meter? Can you check DC amp Draw?

Like said eariler, check your remote for correct voltage, or bypass it with a jumper from the +12 to test.

Is the amp bolted to the box? Remove it incase it is vibration causing the problem.

Good luck. the 4kw is a bit picky at times.

The only failures I have seen in Memphis 4K's are from vibration breaking the legs off the parts. In order to repair this, the right way, we have to do a full rebuild on it. It runs as follows:

Rebuild Power supply alone and upgrade all soldering on all mosfets(outputs are good and not broken

Rebuilt Output and upgrade all soldering on all mosfets

Full Rebuild (replace all mosfets with new matched OEM parts and upgrade all soldering) $450

Yes, we are high priced repairing these but we do it right and that's the only way we do it, do not call or email or PM us bargaining, you either pay the price or send it elsewhere and we wish you luck. Yes we have rebuilt a few of these for competitors with no issues.

Another likely scenario that you may have going on is a broken leg on one of the large rectifier or damper diodes, or a bad solder connection somewhere or could be some arcing from the bottom of the PCB to the top of the case/heatsink at high volume. Which you wouldn't need any parts for the repair so you would only be charged labor, which is $200.

No free estimates on these amps, this is your estimate. No matter what it's gonna be at least $200, but it could be as high as $450. Don't send it in unless you are prepared to pay, we don't want your junk, we have enough used, non-Sundown Audio amps that we can't seem to get rid of.

This amp is the same design, same exact parts and everything, just a different board, as the Soundstream XXX-6500D.

I think this could have been worded a little better:(

Whatever, everyone has an opinion. We have lots of "other" amps here that we haven't sold and would like to sell, but noone wants to buy any of them, they only want to buy the Sundown amps and that's why I said it that way.

I am not nice. I don't have to be, we do good work here and anyone who has done business with us knows this and loves us, which is way more than I can say for other amp repair shops that either take a really long time, or don't do the repairs right, or gasp... both. We may get so busy that we DO take a long time especially if you send a PITA amp here, it will get put to the side, we prefer to stick with what we do all the time rather than some off-the-wall amp repair, but we always do the repairs right. That's why people pay the prices, they know what they are gonna get. Most of the amps here that are for sale are not non-paid repairs they are trade ins on Sundown amps. Not taking anymore trades till I get rid of these. If anyone wants to know what I have I am not allowed to mention it here on these forums because I am a business, not an individual, but I think it's "okay" if I provide a link. So go check it out if you are looking to buy an amp, we have various: http://www.db-r.com/sell/store

chris... i remember when the guy who sent you those opti1000.1d's tried to sell them on ebay

i made him an offer on them and he was a douche about it... wanted like $200 for each one of them (blown)

Yeah, they are actually in good shape cosmetically. The design in them is simple and the PCB's are good quality so they rebuild well. They are definately not worth $200 each blown. I would say $100 or less each blown, as they are about $100-$125 to repair which would put you right in line with what they are worth used in good working order.

Sorry to get off topic here, but it looks like it started to get off topic way back on page 1 or 2.

I hate it when people have problems with the way I word stuff.... whiners.... I am just blunt, straight forward, to the point, not afraid to say anything and I think people have trouble understanding where I am coming from. I work on amps all day long every day for all different kinds of people and I just don't see the point in being "fluffy" about anything. I really am a nice guy, honest, I just have a "low tolerance" for BS.

I think I recommended you on page 1 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

In fact, you have one of my old school amps right now and you are the only person I trust with repairing it!

As for being nice, I found you to be extremely professional and courteous from our email trail. Hopefully all goes well and I don't need to use your services in the near future but if I do, I won't hesitate to send you an email with an overall board shot to get the ball rolling.
