Memphis MOJO 4k HELP!!!

The only failures I have seen in Memphis 4K's are from vibration breaking the legs off the parts. In order to repair this, the right way, we have to do a full rebuild on it. It runs as follows:

Rebuild Power supply alone and upgrade all soldering on all mosfets(outputs are good and not broken

Rebuilt Output and upgrade all soldering on all mosfets

Full Rebuild (replace all mosfets with new matched OEM parts and upgrade all soldering) $450

Yes, we are high priced repairing these but we do it right and that's the only way we do it, do not call or email or PM us bargaining, you either pay the price or send it elsewhere and we wish you luck. Yes we have rebuilt a few of these for competitors with no issues.

Another likely scenario that you may have going on is a broken leg on one of the large rectifier or damper diodes, or a bad solder connection somewhere or could be some arcing from the bottom of the PCB to the top of the case/heatsink at high volume. Which you wouldn't need any parts for the repair so you would only be charged labor, which is $200.

No free estimates on these amps, this is your estimate. No matter what it's gonna be at least $200, but it could be as high as $450. Don't send it in unless you are prepared to pay, we don't want your junk, we have enough used, non-Sundown Audio amps that we can't seem to get rid of.

This amp is the same design, same exact parts and everything, just a different board, as the Soundstream XXX-6500D.

Well after reading this, I know to look elsewhere for the repair. Not because of the price, but because of how unprofessional you are. Real smart man. Will it hurt you or your pocket? I'm sure it wont. But that's beside the point.

WOW, he must be pullin in the cash to talk to somebody like that. Been hearing a lot of these stories lately about companies.... tisk tisk...

But funny when there contract falls flat on its face where they come back to.

GL with the amp Bro

DB-R is a dedicated Sundown Repair guy. He could care less if he repairs anything else which is the point he is getting too. imagine how many people have sent him amps then he gives them the price and they freak out like its alot or something. then he has to deal with a junk amp nobody wants cuz its not even worth to pay for them to ship it back. so now hes stuck with all kinds of amps people arent willing to pay to get fixed. Hes a straight up guy and ive done business with him along with a bunch of others. and i will still continue to do business with.

His point is a big powered amp is going to cost alot more to fix than a small amp so if u send it in expect to pay alot to fix it. so dont waste his time sending it in if you arent willing to get it fixed propperly.

x2

wow

i can not belive a full grow adult acted like that and he is a business owner:eek:

Whatever, everyone has an opinion. We have lots of "other" amps here that we haven't sold and would like to sell, but noone wants to buy any of them, they only want to buy the Sundown amps and that's why I said it that way.
I am not nice. I don't have to be, we do good work here and anyone who has done business with us knows this and loves us, which is way more than I can say for other amp repair shops that either take a really long time, or don't do the repairs right, or gasp... both. We may get so busy that we DO take a long time especially if you send a PITA amp here, it will get put to the side, we prefer to stick with what we do all the time rather than some off-the-wall amp repair, but we always do the repairs right. That's why people pay the prices, they know what they are gonna get. Most of the amps here that are for sale are not non-paid repairs they are trade ins on Sundown amps. Not taking anymore trades till I get rid of these. If anyone wants to know what I have I am not allowed to mention it here on these forums because I am a business, not an individual, but I think it's "okay" if I provide a link. So go check it out if you are looking to buy an amp, we have various: http://www.db-r.com/sell/store
Yeah, they are actually in good shape cosmetically. The design in them is simple and the PCB's are good quality so they rebuild well. They are definately not worth $200 each blown. I would say $100 or less each blown, as they are about $100-$125 to repair which would put you right in line with what they are worth used in good working order.
Sorry to get off topic here, but it looks like it started to get off topic way back on page 1 or 2.

I hate it when people have problems with the way I word stuff.... whiners.... I am just blunt, straight forward, to the point, not afraid to say anything and I think people have trouble understanding where I am coming from. I work on amps all day long every day for all different kinds of people and I just don't see the point in being "fluffy" about anything. I really am a nice guy, honest, I just have a "low tolerance" for BS.
Nice guy aside you run a business. Its called ethics. You can't just be calling peoples stuff junk and trash when there coming to you for help, then expect then to still want to do business.

Its just advice nothing against you personally.

Thanks for the public support here. This is exactly what I was talking about, I really am a nice guy I just have a low tolerance for any BS and I am unafraid of anyone or anything. That part of my brain doesn't work! LOL!

These forums can be both a blessing and a curse for any amp repair business, you have to be unafraid to say anything here, and try to be nice when necessary. Talking about repairing Memphis 4K's (which no other shop can do right, but dB-r as far as I have been told by my customers anyway) is not a time when you have to be Nice. The profit margins are lower repairing those large amps and we prefer to only deal with customers who are willing to pay the high price to make it worth it to both of us.

After dealing with this type of business for a couple years, you would throw ethics out the window too. You should hear some of the crap I have to put up with from customers. I do my part, I repair their amps the right way.

Yes you can call a broken amp junk, because it is junk until it's been repaired here.

This is what is wrong with business today. People want to focus on how to approach the customer more than how to do their job (the actual reason the customer is giving you money). Go screw yourself. Yeah, I am an adult, and I don't give a crap about your ethics. Don't need your advice and this has nothing to do with getting his amp repaired and you are just getting off-topic and wasting bandwidth by posting these kind of comments here. Noone cares if you think I should have worded things differently.

Thanks guy. I like "most" of the people here on this forum. I don't think there is a law that says I have to like everyone or be nice to everyone. The only law I am aware of is that I have to provide services advertised if I am being paid for it, and well, dB-r definately does that.

You are correct. I know its my fault for not checking. I don't expect to be reimbursed. I have not even contacted the guy. I know it will be a waste of time due to the time that has passed. And if it was sold to me with an known issue, of course i wont get a refund.
I sold it to you working 100% dont even start some bullshit like this. almost 9 months later. haha, your crazy for that.
