melting fuse holder

Im sure there is already a thread about this but for some reason the search option is not working for me. My setup is a single 12" alpine type r pushed by a kicker zr360 and controlled by a eclipse cd-5455 headunit. I am having problems melting the fuse holder. Im running a 50 amp fuse which from what i know is about right for my setup. My amp has two 20amp fuses so ten up from that is 50amps. I was told i am pulling to many amps and i should upgrade my wire in size but my amp only accepts 4g wire. Should i go with a anl inline fuse setup to handle the heat better? I mean with it melting the fuse holder, would it be safe to do this change or do i need to look elsewhere for my problem. Any answers will help seeing i dont know where else to look. Oh, and its not subject to heat from the engine, the terminals seem to be melting right through the plastic.

lol but i like loud! Sounds like i got two twelves im my truck. I know my amp has a history of destroying anything in its path which i have blown one type r already, actually a buddy of mine was using my setup in his blazer but was using a loc cuz he didnt have the money for a headunit. I think that had something to do with it. I had the setup for a year and a half with no problems at all except the melting fuse holder but two days after he had it, he blew my sub. Then he got a svc hex explode from walmart and didnt have any problems with that. But i got another type r and im doing fine, except that dam fuse holder.

check your grounds, not just amp ground but battery to frame, motor - (big 3) - or you are using a power wire under sized for length of of wire and current draw.

That translates into you have bass boost up to high or your clipping at least one of your inputs or outputs. OR BOTH amps don't destroy subs distortion does.

My buddy didnt know too much about systems and i think he was turning it up too loud. I noticed his explode clipping and i told him when you hear that sound, its not tuned right. He was running it on a loc from the stock headunit. He took it to a shop and they told him the speaker was blown(i was pissed, knew i should not have trusted him to know what the hell he was doing) so he got the explode. I told him to turn it up to about where he listens to it and i could hear the clipping. I turned the gain all the way down on the amp and the bass all the way down on the headunit and it would still clip. I ended up having to fade it to the front(loc was run off the back speaker) and problem solved. I could have saved the type r if i knew how he was listening to it. But in my case, i had the setup for a year and a half with no problems except the fuse holder. My amp only supports 4g wire. Maybe i could try a shorter run and the anl fuse holder. They got one at best buy with the digital amp meter on it for 35 so im going to try that. I'll be pissed if it eats that one too!

Oh i just had the basic fuse holder everyone has with the bulb fuse in it. Cheap ones. Me myself only went through 3 the whole time i had the system. He has been through 5 in the last 4 months.

This is a very common problem for those cheap AGU Glass type fuse holders

A bad design; the connection on each end of the fuse is loose

The poor connection causes a resistant heat

Replace the fuse holder with a better/different type mini-anl, anl or maxxie type fuse

the anl is the way to go. i have been through like 5 of those bs agus in like a week. the maxxis melt too. not a good connection between the 2 im goin anl.....my last fuse blew so now im stuck charging me lil deka back battery after every use lol
