Mechman alt vs. others

Interesting, when I ordered two alts for my Tahoe with 5.3 motor mike told me 350a is as big as he makes. I also have his phone number an talk to him every now and then. So I'll ask him in a min.
If you ask him then you should ask about the spl series.

He makes large ad244 alternators

So do I tell them I want a 3G on just change the year. It's crazy to hear people talk about alt will do rated or not. I need to cross some of these makers off. Unless used I will not be doing a dc. I'm liking mechman for the price point. I don't think I will need to get an 400 amp alt anytime soon. In fact I would rather run a 2nd alt then ask for so much from an alt. being an older truck I'm sure the mounting is pretty simple. Maybe swap out the a/c pump since I don't use it.
Well what car did you get your alternator off? There are ALOT of cars that had 3gs. I did a 3g swap on my 86 8 years ago. I want to say I got my 3g from a 95 taurus. There are tons of threads on 3g swaps and what cars you can get them from on ford-trucks.com fullsizebronco.com corral.com ETC.

Ya cuz cheapest means better. Lol there's a reason other companies don't have 400amp alts. Because that ratings a lie. I doubt it will do 400a.. Please clamp once you get it. I bet it does 350a at best.
Not saying cheapest is the best.

How do you clamp an alt? Load test?

I don't have a DC clamp meter for amperage

Autozone maybe lol i think it shows the amps on there test bench

The GP alt was $110 cheaper than the mech but the mech was 370 not 300 i dont wanna spend over $650 for an alt and the GP was only like $30 under the sinder but more output at idle and free powder coat so its not like there $100 cheap but just a lil cheaper and ill probably be doing some park and pound so imna need more amps at idle

**** I can't think right now.i got it from pick and pull.

Well look at the F rating and then you won't need to wonder why he's cheaper lol. People do run them though and if he seels a zillion more then that could mean more complaints. Honestly though a price point would probably help a lot on offering a choice.

Throwing in my .02, but I love my "275 Amp" Singer. Clamped at 284/295 hot/cold and 305 peak output. Had the factory regulator bypassed to charge at pretty much 14.1/2 hot or cold which is above the 13.6 hot factory setting. Yea he is a bit pricier, but the lifetime warranty is a nice option to have. Also, people complain about build times for him, correct me if I'm wrong here, but it is only him and one other person building these and running a normal shop not to mention the fact that he's pretty much constantly got a long list of orders. I know my next alt purchase will most likely be Singer, with Excessive Amperage in close consideration.

I bought a 270 hairpin from him a year and a half ago and love it.I He has the best customer service ! He always gets back to you within a couple days ! Think about it, Like you said only him and one other building these beasts and everyone texts him or emails him a 2 or 3 times a day during the ordering and building of there alt Its a wonder he can do it in a month! Looks like a full time job just replying to them all. I am going to get maybe two more of the hairpin 270s and I wont go anywhere else no matter how long it takes to build them I am totally satisfied with Mr Singer and his products.

I really don't have a price point. Just want want the best bang for the buck. I don't mind spending 400-500 but if the other guy is offering the same thing for a fraction then why not. I'll even take a used one which I had planned til he sold it from under me. The life time warranty sounds nice too. So I'm really back where I started. I guess I will just have to run with one...I'm just planning on running a m3b for now and maybe one big xs under the hood. Or 3 oydsseyes pc1200. Maybe 4. Sounds like overkill

Got to do something big I'm kinda depressed. 2 guys I went to high school with just made it to the nfl....they both were 2 years under me. I'm happy for me but now I have to think my weak *** life lol....

There is a ford case thats for ford focus' fusion's and taurus', our unit does 400 amps, it has a hand wound stator and fully custom made parts, its the only way we build that case.

Adulbrich wanted the largest alternator possible knowing a fully custom and more difficult bracket would need to be fabbed for the addition.

And massiveSPL on the GM large cases we do a 350 amp 6 phase hairpin, and is what I would have suggested to you as the largest for your vehicle if you inquired, because one of the fully custom made ford cases is a more difficult bracket job.

And we do not inflate or lie about our amperage ratings, most all units bench hot 10%-15% higher than what the customer paid for. We had a guy we built a 220 amp VW alt for, he went and benched it to be sure it made power before putting it on his vehicle and it did 274 amps for example. and that was a hand wound stator unit as well.
