Mechman alt vs. others

So I've gotten a quote from amperage, mechman and singer...out of all of them mech has been the cheapest.... I just wonder how do mechman compare to to others. It seem everyone place mechman higher for built. Mechman told me $350 for the 240 amp alt. everyone else $400+...singer said he gives an lifetime warranty. Mechman is only 2 years

Have you talked to him yet?

He quoted me for a 300amp that was a little cheaper than singer and does waaay more amps at idle and mech only has a 370amp for my car but the Team GP still does more than the mech at idle.

And from looking up online the GP's usually do more than what there rated at so its probably kore like a 320-330amp that i will get

I cant speak on either of the three companys quality, performance, or service as ive never delt with them but i think mechman alts are over priced imo its more buying a name, singer is a great guy when i was trying to find one a couple months ago and emailed him he helped me out with what i would need to measure to see what i could fit i was gonna get his but id rather save some money and get better amps at idle.

Their alt are higher them mechman....

I've used them all. Dc power, Mechman, singer, excessive and my excessive does most at idle and they are built better. Half inch copper charging stud, anti slip pulley. Hair pin. Just beast and awesome price

Just installed my mechman 270A. It's nice & had zero issues with it so far. Does anyone know who was having problems in a recent thread with his mechman alt spiking 16 volts from a dead stop ? We have the same SUV & I am not getting that issue he was.

Yes and this was comparing a mechman 370amp to a GP 300amp the mech obviously has more at running speed but the GP had way more at idle
Is the mechman alt a conventional? That would explain why the 300 GP hairpin does more at idle.

I'm getting a GP 400 amp hairpin. It does over 200 at 600 RPM. My car idles at 1,500 hot, so I should get a decent bit more at idle for park and pounding //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I run a Singer 320 hairpin it runs 180 at idle and works great for me. His CS was super too I spoke to him many times before purchase and after for install. I got a deal on Black Friday :

I think every brand has issues at times so I' am not really going to bag on Mechman but the company has an F rating on the BBB.

an f wow. i just never really heard anything bad about them. for me they really have the best price as far as i can tell for the 240 amp that would plenty for me. my thing is that my truck idles at under 700 rpm when the tuning is perfect. and theres nothing to change that so i wonder if that would cause a problem for me....

so mechman is not the top alt makers. how to power basters compare. their prices are the same

This what I got from singer. Now he says the smaller pulley would add 30 amps? So would that mean the alt is 280-300??

Hello Sharkey

The upgraded unit that I offer for your vehicle is a 230A/250A tested peak output before heat (140A output at idle for a 800 rpm rotor speed on a 3-1 pulley ratio). This alternator is a direct bolt on design for your vehicle and would plug in just like the factory alternator (comes with overdrive pulley to boost idle output between 30-40A more then the stock size).

The total price on this unit shipped w/ my lifetime warranty on labor is $429

All units come w/ a lifetime warranty that covers any repair labor (parts are at company cost) You can add a powder coating option on any order for an additional $48 .
