This what I got from singer. Now he says the smaller pulley would add 30 amps? So would that mean the alt is 280-300??

The upgraded unit that I offer for your vehicle is a 230A/250A tested peak output before heat (140A output at idle for a 800 rpm rotor speed on a 3-1 pulley ratio). This alternator is a direct bolt on design for your vehicle and would plug in just like the factory alternator (comes with overdrive pulley to boost idle output between 30-40A more then the stock size).

yeah im not in a rush. i just dont want to get something and have play with it. also i did the 2g to 3g swap so whatever i get i thing i have to go back. but i think so wires go cut. so this will be fun...

Last HO alt I bought was Ohio Gen lol. was them or Don iraggi

Gotta second EA alts. Emailed Nate directly, this was about 9yrs ago, the alt was built quickly and did the job. Think it was also cheaper than others. I sold the car to a friend and the alt is still running.

Ya cuz cheapest means better. Lol there's a reason other companies don't have 400amp alts. Because that ratings a lie. I doubt it will do 400a.. Please clamp once you get it. I bet it does 350a at best.

I wouldn't cheap out on an alternator.

I don't buy GPs ratings. There any proof? They haven't been around long enough to judge reliability either IMO.

Singer does a 420 amp alternator rated at 400 amps and 420 peak....

These reason most do not build it that big is because the stator is large and needs a higher rpm just to start.

Mine had a test sheet included. Said max was 273 amps @ 2800 RPM's. I guess that's pretty good for being 270 ??? Least it does rated. I could not find many options for my ride.

You swapped from the fire prone 2nd gen(2g) to the better internally regulated third gen(3g) When you buy an HO alternator you want a 3g alternator.

So do I tell them I want a 3G on just change the year. It's crazy to hear people talk about alt will do rated or not. I need to cross some of these makers off. Unless used I will not be doing a dc. I'm liking mechman for the price point. I don't think I will need to get an 400 amp alt anytime soon. In fact I would rather run a 2nd alt then ask for so much from an alt. being an older truck I'm sure the mounting is pretty simple. Maybe swap out the a/c pump since I don't use it.

Interesting, when I ordered two alts for my Tahoe with 5.3 motor mike told me 350a is as big as he makes. I also have his phone number an talk to him every now and then. So I'll ask him in a min.

It seems a lot of people run singer. I just wonder why he charges more then mechman. Or should I question why mechman is so cheap...I guess it's the warranty your paying for.
