McIntosh tuning assistance.

What? Let's see....my last driver had a dead coil (manuf. defect). Driver before that had weak tinsel leads (actually two of em) Proto TC sub and Brahma. (It was a proto for a reason and everyone knows the issue with the brahmas). So your point is?
BTW: I know how to set my gains....do you?

My subs are not blown up so apparently my complete inability to set gains is greater than your alleged ability. Oh wait, it was weak tinsel leads and not your improper use of the subs. Right. You seem to have a long string of bad luck when it comes to subs that is only attributable to manufacturing defects. Seems reasonable to me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

What? First off a dead coil on a subwoofer will still function. Cone movement will not be linear. If in fact I did blow the coil, it would not play whatsover. Trust me, I would have known if I the sub was blown, because distortion would be heard. The sub played fine off one coil. One coil read 2 ohms, the other read 0, thus, being dead, not blown.

Use the search function better and find out about the Brahma tinsel leads.

Also, the TC proto sub I used, as mentioned was a proto, one of one made and like I said, there is a reason for why it didn't make it into production. You have no clue how many subs they have made and it goes beyond what they had on their website a few months ago. The sub itself could take the power, took my RF 3k1 at full gain which was done by someone who knows greatly about TC drivers and car audio. It took it for several seconds, at which point we turned the gain back down to half way and on the way home, the sub cut out. The tinsels leads couldn't take the heat, thus they blew through one of the spider.

I have backed my facts up, now tell me...what makes you think I blow through subs constantly and getting recones?

So why did you think Rainbow subs was some sort of Broke-Back Mountain audio term?

I came up with that conclusion for Rainbow subs after this came back from my search on the forum.

Also, I just checked the gain setting tutorial and missed the page where it says “Ignore all of this advice if you are running TC drivers and just crank the gain all the way up”.

So what is the exact number? Can you also break it down by model number please? Thanks

Please explain the basis for having the gain all the way up other than “it was done by someone who knows greatly about TC drivers”. What is it about TC drivers that cause you to have the gain all the way up. Do you do that with DD subs? If not why?

I come on this board asking some simple questions regarding a new system I got but instead I get one thread locked and a flame fest in this one. If you don’t know the answer then why bother responding?

There are plenty of other threads you can respond to while sitting at mommy’s house after a hard day at trade school and then a 4 hour shift at the local Piggly Wiggly selling beer to minors and reading the latest edition of Hillbilly Monthly with the special pullout section on best way to field dress a raccoon for Christmas dinner.

I don't know of an exact number, but I have been around a plenty of em...lets just say I know someone who had easily over 50 TC subs in their garage. And no I can't break it down by models because they used various tops, motors, etc.

The purpose of turning the gain up momentarily was to see how much of a brute that 12" sub was. For a single 12 to be put into a 1 cu. ft. enclosure that is WAY too small for it (it was what i was using for one of my other 12's but we decided just to see what the driver does). It took the power at half gain, 3/4 gain, and kept going till it took the amp at full gain. Thus, the subs power handling was a good amount. It was just to see how much the sub can take. Like I said, I drove it home at half gain, I wouldnt leave it full gain for daily, it was just momentarily. Learn to read.

No need to tell us about your life..nice of you to share, but definitely not needed. If you wanted help, maybe you shouldn't have been a d-bag to people. If you seriously are butthurt, then GTFO and stop complaining. It's the internet. There's no room for your sissy *** to get emotional. Go have a period or somethin if you cant handle what started as one person saying that the person who sold you the vette is stupid for not pulling out equipment worth several grand and is hard to come by.
