You know what els.....

It is got to be SUPER INSANE to re-tube them amps!!

8-KT 88's per amp and IIRC, there are a total of 36 of those same amps so.....

I remember a place back in Tampa named "Sensuous Sounds". Years ago(15 or so) they were a VERY good, custom HT and car audio shop.

They had a red 911 with 3 OG W6's and Mc amps, HU, and OG MB Quarts that were German made....

That car sounded great and still one of the best that I have herd to date. Keep in mind that, that car was not SQ friendly in the first place.

For me, I cannot see spending that kind of $$$$ for a car system. You could build a home system for that same $$$$ that would PWN any car system.

That and he dose not need the heat on either....

I'm not really a fan of tube amps actually I like solid state usually. I'm more then likely going to search ebay for used mcintosh or similar. I may try tubes again if I find a good deal.

The room was about 6 mil$$ and 30 Mc-2102's.

This is what I really want to know...

This is a completely new ST70. The only used/old parts are the power and output *****. I am running 6CA7's for power tubes.(about a 1/4 the size and 1/2 the potential of a KT88/6550 tube)

here are a few temp shots I just took...

power ***** after about 4 hours of use..

Temp of the glass at the top of a power tube...

Temp of the glass at the side(facing the plates) of that power tube....

now times that by 4 plus the ***** and the other 3 tubes.....and thats just one....now double that and take that times 30......

better have good air conditioning!!

I don't understand how you can compare an amp and an amp with nothing but outputting a single source. All hu are the same if u want to compare this way. If a hu is only 2v and an eclipse 8v u run that eclipse at 2v their exactly the same.. If u can't add in the crossover network in an amp then your comparing half of what an amp does.

The reason u can't tell a dif in amps is bcuz you have a 30 second hearing remembrance. Not to mention the fact that u don't know what your looking for.. If I play 2 songs and change one note you won't be able to tell a dif would u? No. You can't tell a difference on what u don't know what your looking for.

I changed from a SS then to a arc audio I can guarantee u a huge difference in more transient music, rap is not transient enough. I can also hear a difference in AQ sundown and running it on te same arc audio. It's a much fuller sound and deeper.

If things were all the same go buy power acoustic and u tell me how that sounds oh wait no one buys that.

I think that is probably the biggest reason people think all amps sound the same. 192kb mp3's are NOT the music to be using to tell the difference in amplifiers
