hi guys

as you probably saw in previous threads i was considering buying the Q series components

today i finally bought them after sooo many peoples recommendations (i know i know, i should have demo'd them myself but i got them or $200 brand new)

they are the MB Quart QM 218.61 Q components

i still need to buy an amp for them and install em

can anyone give advise as to how i should mount these speakers (ie. tweets on axis or off) and what amp i can use to drive them

thanks for all the help guys

heres a pic, cant wait to hook them up

i have some really nice 8" Rockford HX woofers, would it be advisable for me to hook up a 3-way system for my front stage?

nope if its a 8 inch subwoofer rather than a woofer you will not like the results woofers are for vocals ...music etc while subs are for sub bass [ below bass] freq's

lets see pics of the 8's

you'll like them alot. i have the same set of comps in my doors and love them.

about the woofer... if its a speaker designed as a 'sub' woofer then it might not sound as good b/c they are generally designed to not run that high into the frequency range. you would proabbly be looking in to getting a mid bass woofer for that type of sound.

can u guys recommend any mid drivers? or will i be fine with just the components alone

the only reason i was worried is because their rubber surrounds look very thin

@Ingleside - i know these splits sound good but can they get loud too while holding composure. how many watts do u suggest i put through them?

i have subs that play 146-148dB so i need to hear them above the bass

well, personally i like them but i wish they had a little more 'kick' to them.

others have said the same thing about them.

if you have the room a nice 7 or 8" mid bass would help out. i dont have the room in my doors and dont want to run kicks so im stuck with a 2 way set up. i dont mind it at all b/c the SQ is so great.

i guess technically i have about 200w running to them. i have an ampin f345 amp pushing them and its rated on the birth sheet to put out 103w x 4.

i have the gains all the way down and they get loud enough for me.

You'll be fine...now get some serious power on them and enjoy. You know the raa2400 would be a great match for them.

true that. at first i was afraid to give mine alot of juice and had the gains on my amp turned ALL the way down. i finally got a little more agressive and turned the gains up (within a reasonable limit) a little bit and now they're loud and crisp.
