MB Quart DSC4125 review

First of all, I must admit, I was skeptical- a 4 x 125 amp for only $135? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif It's a Maxxsonics product, which most people take as "This amp could be really hit-or-miss." I asked around a bit, then ordered one, and it arrived today.

It's rated like so:

4x125 @ 4 ohms

4x250 @ 2 ohms

2x500 @ 4 ohms bridged

Here's how I have it set up:

Front channels- PG RSD comps, high pass @ 100hz, -18db/oct

Rear channels- Bridged to two MB Quart RWE-354s, low pass @ 100hz, -18db/oct

First, I ran it on just the subs because I was just happy to have a new amp, and didn't have the patience to wire it up to my fronts //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

I expected modest results, seeing that I was running a pair of 15s rated at 700w RMS apiece in a sealed box. I was blown away by the output. I mean, it's probably not in the 140s, but for 2 15s in a sealed box on 500w, I was certainly impressed!

So I went ahead and wired up the fronts to the front channels. I got the gains adjusted, then dialed in the time alignment and whatnot. Again, I was thoroughly impressed at the volume of the speakers, and the sick amounts of midbass. I had them on head unit power before (I know //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif) and the difference is night and day.

Final verdict: This amp is a force to be reckoned with for the power. I was very, very impressed at the price vs. the power you get. I don't know for sure if it's overrated or not, but the specs are certainly believable.

Way to go, Maxxsonics and MB Quart, that is a solid *** amp for the buck!

OMG, you bucked the current car audio dot com trend by running 500 watts RMS to your subwoofers when most would have been running 1,500 watts RMS to the pair.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif Prepare to be banished for going against the car audio dot com collective and going out on your own.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

Just kidding. If it works for you, who gives a rat's *** what any of these jokers have to say?

Look at my sig.

1,500w coming soon //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Then I'm gonna use the 4125 to go active. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Nice review....I bought one this morning, $149. Going to be the new boner amp. Might just buy 3-4 more cause they're going fast. Supply and demand thing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

http://www.caraudiodeals.com ftw

I thought it was a fishy site because it was so cheap, but when they ran into a problem with my credit card (They wanted the billing address to match the shipping address... I was going to have it shipped to work) a guy from the place and was very helpful. That site gets my thumbs up.

The DSC4125 is an excellent SQ amplifier and at 4 x 125 watts RMS, the power is enough to power just about any speakers you want.

The DSC1500.1D (1 x 1500 expect more like 2 x 1650) and DSC2000.1D (1 x 2000 expect more like 2 x 2200) are an excellent choice as well.

Guts of my DSC2000.1:

fuse rating?

excellent review, maybe now people will understand why I made a living for so many years selling Hifonics and MBQuart //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
