MB Quart Amps

Well- buddy got the RAA2400 in today- i must say amp visibly is quite the beast, looks of great, solid build quality and the heatsinks look serious.... came in a nice purdy big box too. I'll take pics of the install sometime next week, hope it turns out without issues-its a beautiful amp at a great price. Would've had it hooked up today but got it this late in the afternoon and he needs an upgrade in poower wire and a new distro block. I must say these are among the nicest looking amps I've come across-a few of these would make for a classy, show worthy install //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

"MB Quart Plans Re-Entry Into U.S. Car Audio Market

By Amy Gilroy -- TWICE, 1/24/2005

OBRIGHEIM, GERMANY — Refusing to simply fade away, MB Quart GmbH, currently in receivership, said it plans to launch a new brand, Third Acoustics, in the United States and worldwide with a target date of June.

According to Tobias Wahl, the insolvency administrator for MB Quart GmbH, the company has continued to operate since it filed for insolvency last September. Although it is currently in a dispute over the rights to the MB Quart name in North America, the company plans in the meantime to offer most the same products as it did under the MB Quart brand. It said it will produce the products in the same manner and with the same model number designations under the Third Acoustics brand. Amplifiers will no longer be offered.

Rockford Corporation, which purchased MB Quart in 2001, said it had no comment at this time.

Third Acoustics was at International CES this month to sign up a core network of U.S. manufacturer's representatives, it said.

MB Quart GmbH said it will decide by February if it will operate its own Third Acoustics subsidiary in the United States, or if it will go through a distributor. MB Quart GmbH's turnaround consultant, Thomas Sauer, said the company is leaning towards establishing a Third Acoustics subsidiary.

Wahl said: “We will stay with the product that is engineered and produced in Germany. We are currently in the process of reworking all the products to create a significant increase in price/performance ratio. We are looking forward to reviews in magazines comparing Third Acoustics to the old MB Quart product.”

He added, “And since we have ... a wonderful name and a highly motivated staff, we think we have a profitable company, and we don't think we'll have problems with liquidity. We have been welcomed with open arms at the CES which makes us hopeful for the future,” said Wahl.

In September, Rockford Corp., maker of the popular Rockford Fosgate brand of car audio speakers, amplifiers and head units, announced plans to restructure its operations and place MB Quart in Germany in receivership. Rockford said this action would stem losses of approximately $750,000 per quarter. Rockford also announced plans to return to its core car audio business and divest itself of non-core related businesses. The company owns several home audio and professional audio companies, including Hafler, Fosgate Audionics and NHT. "

so i called crutchfield because i wasn't planning on ordering it this week, and next week would be a new month so i wanted the same price to be around. the sales guy said since it's clearance he didn't see any end-date for the sale price, and since there's 500 left in stock, i'm set //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

actually i never ordered it because my credit card billing cycle is going to end at the end of this week. lol, i'm cheap, but hey, it turned out to benefit me because i just got ANOTHER twenty dollar coupon code yesterday. Looks like I'm gonna be getting that MBQ for a STEAL

ahh after all this stupid waiting and talking i finally followed through and ordered the amp. i'm still debating whether or not to get a nine.1 for sh!ts and giggles and compare. I'm seeing an RL-P 15" in my possession in the near future so I might have to get the nine.1 anyway for 2ohm impedance. the mbq should be here by thursday at the latest, will install immediately upon arrival (or when i get home) to see how well it makes love to the solos. will keep everyone posted don't worry

well it's here, and yea any differences in power output would be marginal. This thing is the most solidly built amp I've ever owned. One thing I want to point out though that some may like, some may not, is it has a PAIR of speaker outputs, not just 1 even though it's a mono amp. Each one is 2ohm and is wired internally in parallel....so.....I gotta rewire my freakin subs to 2ohm each and have 2 wires running through the port instead of one. oh well, brb when i'm done!

ok after about 5 hours of playing with the new toy, all i have to say is screw the nine.1. if you have three hundred dollars to spend on a sub amp, hop on this deal NOW. this amp has convinced me that a watt does NOT equal a watt. i used a profile cl1200 (900w @ 4ohm) and a planet audio vx900d (900@1ohm) and this amp takes a fat dump over both of them. i feel like my subs are getting distortionless signal, but since I have solos the amp just makes me realize even more these things are NOT sq subs lol. Can't wait to get rid of them and get some drivers that can actually handle this beast. this sh!t is underrated most definitely. i'm gonna play with it for a couple more weeks and let you guys know what i really think. don't ask for pics they're all over the place. btw, mine also says CILP instead of CLIP...i seriously have NO IDEA how that got past quality control, geez

you can make solo's a very serious sq sub im not gonna argue but i already know it can be about as good as there is if you wanna take it that route..you can with alot of subs though
