Maybe an easy few questions, Crossovers off of amplifiers???

Hi all just wanted to know before moving on I have seen that crossovers will only allow certain signals or frequencies output wise, how critical is this if the amplifier does not output or support the frequencies that the crossover is made to output? I ask because I have afew older 4 channel amps that high pass will only adjust from 50hz-200hz, 2 that do 50hz-500z, some of my drivers and tweeters call for above 500hz. So I guess I'm asking the crossovers for my component speakers will somehow convert and output frequencies that it's not even getting,in the first place? Some of my setup ask for 500hz-1khz. So how important is the amp I use? When using crossovers how critical is amp frequencies?

If you are gonna use the crossovers from your component speakers, then all you need is one HPF for the entire set. You don't need to worry about tweeter frequencies or anything else except where the bass cuts off at the mids. It's only if you ditch the component crossover and run fully active is where the frequencies really matter on the amp. Otherwise, just start with the highest HPF and move your way down until you like the sound. It will depend on how low you want your mids to go. All the other frequencies will already be assigned through your component crossovers.

What are you powering that you need the HPF set at 500Hz-1kHz? Can you describe the setup in more detail?

Im going to assume your using passive crossovers which means after the amplifier(unless its Super expensive focals), the HPF of 50 to 500hz means it will pass everything above what you set it to so if you set it to 500 it will pass 500hz to 20khz if you set it at 50hz it will pass 50 to 20khz so your passive crossovers are getting the signal of what you set that HPF to and then it splits it up to your mid and tweet. and like blazian87 said start it high and adjust it down till you like the sound coming from you mids, your tweets arent affected passive crossover is already cutting them off around 2-4Khz.

Thank you gets I made my mind on the first questional area and now time to ask another with nearly the same title and should be simpler to answer. I'm going to be running a pretty good size 2 channel amp for my front stage and I wanted to know is there any chance I can run two passive crossovers on a single channel without changing the ohm? I have tweeters mounted in the rear pillars and if I can I'd like to have them hooked up if I can keep everything 4 ohm.
