Maybe a dumb Q - Best way to determine if box will physically fit in trunk?

Besides the obvious by measuring the W, H, D of the trunk, Im a little worried that in building a bigger box I wont be able to get it into the trunk opening after its built. I was thinking of constructing out of cardboard first to see how it would go in, but this seemed like a bunch of work for this. Is there a mathematically way based on the truck opening or something? I have a 2004 Dodge Neon SRT4. Again, I know it will fit in the trunk, its the getting into the trunk this post is about.

Ive done that several times now, not that much work. Hardest part for me was just bringing home the cardboard. That, plus a tape measure, razor knife, some tape and like 15 mins.
Otherwise, it needs to be a fairly straight forward install like drop the box straight in/down to the floor, then push it forward. That's easy to calculate with math. build it out of cardboard and make sure it fits, will only take an hour. that is what i did and glad i did.

This will increase the difficulty, but you can also build the box in 2 sections. Make an overhanging lip on one section. Predrill it and put glue on the other piece where they will meet. Slide them together inside the trunk, then sink the screws down. Seal the joint and you're done.
