Hey everyone. Yesturday i was looking on craigslist for a stereo. I found a guy selling 2 12' 1000 Watt subs, a 1000 Watt amp, and a deck for 300 bucks. I stopped buy his house and picked it up that night. The subs look like they're in pretty good shape, the amp has a few scratches on it, and the deck looks alright.
My question is, is there any ways i can test these things out before i actually put them into my car? If they are broken somehow i wanna figure it out as soon as possible (its going to be weeks before i actually get this hooked up in my car, and its probably going to cost like 100 dollars at best buy to install it) so i dont spend more time and money, and i can go to the guys house and get my money back.
For the sub there isnt much that could go wrong right? Just by looking at it i should be able to tell if its ok?
I figured the amp is in decent shape, just a few scratches. The thing is rock hard so im guessing its pretty hard to break.
The front of the deck looks pretty good, and the body has black scuff marks on it. The thing that worries me is that the wires look a little singed on the end. Is that normal?
I was hoping to substitute my friends subs/amp out for mine to see if htey work but he has something wrong with his wiring at the moment. Is there any other way i could test some of this out? I wanted to hook it up to my home speaker system but im assuming it wont work because the car is DC and the power in my house is AC.
