i rode in this guys monte carlo the other day and he said he had a "kicker square subwoofer" and a pioneer "800 watt amp" ... the seat was folded down so i could look back and check out the amp and the gain was 100% maxed out with bass boost completly maxed out... i told him it was bad but the thing was it sounded awsome! no audible distortion and you couldent hear it bottoming out or anything, it sounded 100x better than my 2 L7's and while certainly not louder it was way louder than when i did have 1 L7...

is this a case of his car just being a better soundbox than mine? also his bass "travels" way farther than mine does although my car pounds harder...

windy days affect how far your bass will travel man, if it's not windy at all it will travel far, also depends on the ambiance of the street and **** too.

your head unit is prolly only a 1 volt head unit pre out max, like my Pioneer one so that's why you got to raise it always over 3/4. i'd back the gain down a tad cuz even if your amp is at full it's got to be distorting some.
