max power

a cap will not give it more power, but it will help the amp maintain the highest power

also it will have cleaner power as where most caps filter power

but you will not raise the max power of the amp with a cap, it will just help maintain it

caps do not filter dc...caps only filter AC....makes the dips in the sign wave smaller

they may help with small voltage dips.....but it's still a waste

A cap will try to supply a constant voltage to your amp.

A cap will reduce some of the heat created by your amp.

A cap will filter out any AC from the power supply (whining)

So, with all these benefits, a cap can lead to power increases in your amp but not over that of the design specs.

To get the most out of your amp you should run it at the Lowest, STABLE, impedance level. This information should be provided in your amps manual.

ok...quick ?...how can the whine be AC when the voltage from the Alternator is being rectified to DC.......unless the noise being inducted is right at the alternator itself.

My bad....It is NOT AC... Yes the AC gets rectified but not filtered. The result is a signal that fluctuates between, say, 0 volts and 14.4V (VVVVVV) and it's frequency changes with engine/alternator speed. A capacitor will try and filter this fluctuation (ripple) out before it hits your components and hopefully look like this (-----------) .

Sorry for the mis info tryed to answer as many as I could in a short amount of time

Yes, your amp will try and filter out this ripple by the use of internal capacitors for the power supply. However this is not the manafacturers main concern and they often times use small or undersized caps to do this...as amplification is there main concern. The battery itself is also used as to filter out this ripple. The fact is ripple can never really be totally eliminated with the use of capacitors, but they can come close. I have seen some integrated circuits which provide an almost pure DC voltage the problem with these is that they can't handle the large currents needed....or at least that I have seen.
