Max amount of power on electrical before upgrade?

I have an '04 dodge ram 1500 4.7v8. I want to run around 2500W, and I was told I am going to need a HO alt, and an extra battery. I was planning on just doing the big 3. Will I be okay? Whats the max you can run on stock electrical? Not sure how many amps my alt puts out though

I would say no on the 2500 watts. some upgrades should be done after 1k imo.

I had a hifonics 1606D on it and had no problems..

well just a little info i had a aq 1200d with only a d5100r under the hood and 1/0 grounds and my burp and bass race scores were a 3db difference, then i added a d3400 in the back with 1/0 pos and neg when i got a aq 2200d and my burp and bass race scores were only like 1.5db different with about twice the power

your alt puts out @136 peak amps. roughly speaking 2500 watts pulls 250 amps. I would assume the 1606d must be overrated if you had NO problems.

just cuz you dont have problems doesnt mean your getting the pull potential of the amp

i would atleast add a second battery in the back and possible upgrade your front batt to an agm also

yea 1 to 2 extra batteries and that should take care of it if you do the big 3

yea i ran an aq 2200 at .5 ohm on 4 ga without the big 3 for 3 45 sec bassraces and didnt have a prob with my 2 batteries in the back and stock under hood. but im gonna upgrade to o ga and the big 3 asap

lol what did u bass race with it i did a 141.9 with mine on 4ga then after i did second batt and 1/0 i could do 145.5
