Maybe some people are born drug users/addicts because they have addictive personalities, and MJ is not the gateway drug, its just the first/easiest one they could get their hands on to try.

I smoke b/c its cheaper then drinkin (im a big guy so i got to drinkalot), i feel like im in way more control of myself then when im drunk, and i dont feel like shit the next day. I dont think thta b/c i smoke it makes me worse of a person. If anything, ive noticed that more people smoke then i thought.

i hate weed. most of my friends smoke and all they wanna do is keep smoking but what ever i see it better if they legalize it atleast the money goes to taxes

If people want drugs - they will get them, illegal or not.

If they are legal you lose the crime and violence and gain tax revenue... if they are illegal people get them anyway, risk getting contaminated and dangerous substance, kill each other over them, and there is no tax revenue and, in fact, a tremendous expense to enforce the drug laws and catch and keep all these people in jail.

Sure, I can see incredibly dangerous drugs being illegal - as with dangerous prescription drugs being pulled from market. But I'm not aware of very many, or any, marijuana OD related deaths.

But, if you think some guy who smokes pot once a week deserves to go to jail and cost tax payers thousands of dollars to rot in there, then comes out unable to get a job due to a criminal record and resorts to a life of more crime... more power to you.

California CANNOT legalize marijuana as it is a federally regulated substance. Even if the state decriminalizes it, it will still be a federal crime.
