Making the Comps Better?

Is there anything I can do to my doors besides deadening that will make the comps sound better? Right now they are installed in the doors and I know the 5.25 size comps arent supposed to hit that much midbass but if I feel the door when the music is playing I can feel some of the midbass but I cant hear it as much. Or is the only other option to put them in kick panels?

IMO, imaging is critical to midbass performance. I *guess* in the same way playing too high for your driver's cone area leads to beaming (has to be really on axis to hear), playing too low can do the same thing.

If you can, just use some 3/4" MDF rings, shave them so they're tapered, and remount the 5.25 in the doors so they have a bit better imaging. Not the same level as kicks, but an improvement.

clay, deflex pads/eggcrate foam, covering up major holes with plexi/mdf, deadening of both inner and outer skin, making sure the doorpanel isnt blocking dispersion, etc.
