Death Star sub FTW

the death star one is cool and all but wouldnt it take less time and less effort + $ to just make a mold like the way im going to? i know his is probably way heavier with the mdf and all.

Na, what you gotta do is this. Make a perfect sphere, and find a sub without a pole vent. Only cut out one part of the sphere for the sub, invert mount it, and also use the sub to stand it.

Dunno if it'd vibrate the whole thing around, maybe you'd need to mount the sub down too. I'll post a paint pic here in a sec for those that don't understand what i'm talking about.

The round part of the basket (well, kinda roundish), will complete the sphereular... if thats a word... theme more, and you won't need a flat side messing up the look to have it not rolling around

Sure, it would. Just make sure you use several layers and make the thing very strong. Since you won't have bracing of any kind inside

the basket would bulge out. it would be easier just to have the sub downfiring therefor you couldnt see the flat part on the bottom.

if all goes right i plan to make a smaller version tommorrow to fit a 3" from my ht in for a practice and if it goes nice i will probably make all the others one or at least some other kind of shape.

His way is also the only way you can flush mount the subwoofer. By using a beach ball the mounting ring will always be stuck on the outside of the ball.
not really if carefully done with mad skillz i should be able to have the mounting sunk in like his while keeping the sphere round
