makes me wanna cry

How? They underestimate how heavy they are and drop them. I rarely see a "HEAVY" or "FRAGILE" label or both on a shipping container for a sub. As heavy as most of the new subs are, putting them in anything other than a wooden crate for shipping would probably be considered substandard packing if you tried to make a claim with the shipping company for insurance. Why you wouldn't crate them is beyond me anyway...
how many companies crate there subs?

the rl-p i got in "factory shipping materials" scared the crap out of me honestly, barely anything in the box.

Yeah, it's pretty obvious shipping companies don't give a **** about anything they ship. After the first fiasco with UPS busting up 1 of my shockers, I got another one sent to me FedEx, and this is what it looked like when they dropped it off. Maybe I just have bad luck?
