MAJOR remote start problem

is it a mars 22 or a mars 22+? off the to of my head your wire clors would be

red consant +

red constan +

yelow ign

yellow green second ign

white acc

green starter

thin white fused with i assume a 15A fuse parking light (polarity is selected with a white jumper on the unit)

red black is your brake input

black yellow is tach

grey is aux/trunk

thats all i can rememeber

grab a DMM or test light and go through all your fuses. i assume theres a blow fuse soewhere or a starter kill relay. actually unless its a latching relay i dont think the starter kill would be a problem

take your battery out and bring it to an autozone or advanced auto and tell them you want it load tested, that wil eliminate any battery issue if you have one.

what fuse was blown?

22, no +

Not sure what fuse it was. It was in its own little enclosure beside the main under-hood fuse block, there was a 2nd fuse in a similar enclosure right next to it.

I never noticed an electrical problem before finding the blown fuse, and haven't noticed anything gained since replacing it.

Im not an expert at car alarms, but if the car won't start, you probably have a start kill activated.

And remote start wont work, you probably have start kill activated to the remote start.

Try resetting the alarm somehow...

Conventional starting is not working either.

didnt read to see if you solved the problem or not but i have a compu star and when my batt died i had to call compu star and they had to walk me through how to reset the remote start before it would work again.

probably just an anti theft deterrent that kicked in

I've talked to a tech from Omega and learned a bit more about the situation, but since tech is closed for the night I guess I'll bang on the forums for a while and see what else I can come up with.

One - apparently I have the omega MARS32 which is a full featured car alarm with remote start (although the brain clearly says 22). I noticed a siren in the engine compartment that had been disconnected. I found the lead for it and connected it.

Two - the flashing lights mean the alarm has been triggered. Which leads me to the source of the problem. No matter what I try it REFUSES to disarm. The alarm sounds (flashes in my case) off for about a minute. Then stops and re-arms. About anything I try to do sets it off again.

A simple remote door unlock is supposed to disarm it, but that clearly isn't working.

My next question - if I defeat the starter disable so the truck runs - will we be driving around with flashing lights all day??

This is ******* real bad.

after a couple hours under the dash last night...

I traced the orange wire (starter disable) from the brain which was supposed to lead to a relay...well, it wasn't connected to anything.

So - the remote start isn't locking out the starter.

I followed the sound of a clicking relay (in rythm with the parking lights) to the firewall and found a black box with a "Mitsubishi Security System" sticker on it.

New problem...I didn't even know this truck HAS a stock alarm.

To make a long story longer --

A tow truck is on the way to take the Monty to a local import auto electric shop. Hopefully THEY can figure it out.

First shop called me real quick like - I got the impression they were scared shitless by the time they got the door open. Said "maybe it's your ECU".

They recommended another shop so I had it towed AGAIN ($100 in tows - YAY!).

Got another call after lunch. Ready to go.

They just had to go through a "routine" to reset the alarm.

1) key on

2) disconnect batt - let sit

3) reconnect batt

4) lock doors

5) unlock doors

$32 bucks and good to go. Kinda high for what they did, but as pissed as I was I would have paid more for it to be right.

Now I get to put the dash back together //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
